To have a Caravaggio reproduction as my main art piece above the couch in my living room?
It's David and Goliath...so the creepy and weird part is the giant bloody severed head
Before everyone thinks I'm (even more) bat shiz crazy, the reproducer is my sister, and she's a very talented artist, and she offered to give it to me for free. And I do need something for this very empty wall.
Thoughts? (This is hers btw, not the original, so exactly what I'd have hanging up)

although the artwork is great i cant see very many people feeling comfy in ahouse where the main pic is a severed head. Sorry i think maybe this is good for your office! lol Or at least at tax season its good fo rmine. hahahaha

Funny you should say that, because I do have an illustration of Dante's Rings of Hell on my office door.
The little brat said that if I commissioned her for a new piece she'd discount her going rate to half price for me, so I'd only have to pay $300. She wasn't joking either. Ugh. I guess I'll just have to ransack her existing repertoire to find something more appropriate, though I have always liked this painting.

yeah if someone has never been to your apartment and then visits for the first time......they might be a little taken back. On a side note though your sister is very talented!

I'm more the type who enjoys a nice monet over the mantle...
We have a reproduction of this in our living room:
It was one of my favorite pictures that used to hang in my grandfather's used furniture store. About a year before he sold the store (2 years before he died) I was in there and told him I always loved the grainstacks and he said to just get up on a chair and take it.
After he passed away, I took two small impressionist reproductions from his back room and we have all of them in our living room now. Always makes me smile...
None of them make me hold my neck thankfully or cower in the fetal position... just sayin'.

2010 crashing..... i love Caravaggio......but not everyone does..... if thats what you want go for it! But I could definitely see people getting a little freaked out over it......your sister did a great job though!! I know Caravaggio has done some other paintings that aren't as dark.....like the boy with the fruit basket one.... maybe your sister could paint another one for you to hang in your living room?
