Would this annoy you?

So, my inlaws are visiting us and they answer our phone. We have caller ID so they would know if it was one of us calling them and they could pick up. Otherwise I don't think they should be answering it. DH just called to say that my Dr. called to confirm my appointment tomorrow and his mom took the message. And she is the noisy type that would be like 'Why is she going to the Dr.'.. I'm really annoyed right now. I should have told DH there and then that I don't feel comfortable having them answer the phone. Obviously it's not for them!

Yes would be annoyed. Although if they are staying for a short period of time, it might not be worth the argument.

They are leaving tomorrow and come down once a year for a couple of days so I won't even bother bringing it up...guess this is just one of the little hurdles when it comes to inlaws! All I know is that my parents would never do that. I just hate people knowing my business no matter what it is.

I would def be very annoyed! It's rude to pick up the phone in someone else's house unless you are asked to!

That would make me nuts!!! I wouldn't make a fight out of it but it should be addressed so that the next time they come to visit they won't do it!!!

I am sure they are annoying you, but for a few days a year i would deal. but it would bother me a ton.

His family is all up in everyone's lives to the point I see it as unheathly. So I know they think that is normal to pick up the phone as they would do in their three daughters houses. But they need to watch where the line of privacy is in my house! It is a lot more sensitive than in their daughter's house. Just gets under my skin! AHH!

Isn't there a way to turn off the ringer? If not, I would probably try to tell them not to answer the phone bec. there is someone I'm trying to avoid.

Maybe they think they're being helpful.

Annoying yes, if you're not getting messages or it's creating stressful situations .. worth getting angry over .. not sure .. as for the Dr. message .. maybe DH shouldn't have left the message with his mom, but rather waited until he could pass it directly to you.

Do you have an answering machine that could be taking the calls?? You could tell them not to worry about getting the phone, the machine will pick up when it's not either you or your hubby. Then, for privacy, make sure the volume is down on the machine.

I would be annoyed, but after this situation, I would set my boundaries. If it were Rob's mom .. I would think it's because she was trying to be helpful. I wouldn't answer the phone in her house though and I would tell her this.
