would you return the gifts? (kind of long, bare with me. lol)
Okay, so Marissa's post got me thinking about this retched woman I used to work with. It was at a Pre-school - she was an assistant and I was a teacher. She just caused a lot of problems there (with attitude, gossiping, lazyness, etc, etc). I really hated her. Horrid horrid woman.
Well she was working on opening up her own Home Daycare for months. Finally everything was set and she was ready to leave us and start out on her own. (Yay! Everybody was sooo happy! lol) So we had a big going away party for her. I mean, we got her a cake, a card, and yes even gifts (basket of bath things - like candles, bubble bath, etc).
So she says her good-byes and was off. HOWEVER, not even a full week later she comes BACK! She claims that things didn't pull through like they were supposed to and she needed to work a few more weeks while it all gets worked out.
(She ended up staying forever tho - like over a year, but that's besides the point). When she returned maybe 2-3 days later, my thought was 'hey, we already gave you a goodbye party, b!tch'.
And then she started laughing about it and started telling us how much she enjoyed her bubble bath (and everything else in her basket of fun). Hmmm...
So that's my question - if you got a going away gift like that but didn't actually GO AWAY, would you return the gifts?? I mean, I know that the gifts are now technically HERS, so I'm not really asking what the 'right' thing to do is - just a personal question. I feel like if she was a good person, I wouldn't have minded. But because of the evil woman that she was just in general, my thoughts were 'how dare you!' haha.
I mean, I could give her the benefit of the doubt and say that maybe she used them BEFORE knowing she'd have to come back to work. But i know her better than that. I have a feeling that she always knew she'd be back.
What do you think? Keep the gift for yourself, or return 'em?
