sent you a wedding card?

I have a family member who was invited, RSVP'ed late, and then cancelled the day before becuase his wife had a backache and needed help with the kids.

they never sent us a card or a gift..... and I feel like I've been blown-off....

what would you do?

I agree with the others. I wouldn't send a card to someone who was very rude like that.

I would not send a card. If they didn't even acknowledge the most important day of your life, he's out of your life.

I send out my holiday cards to the same people every year. Even if they didn't send one to me. To me it's about who I WANT to send them to. I don't factor anything else into it.

No way! They treated you like crap.. they don't deserve a card from you.

Wait. It sounds like they had to cancel because the wife had back pain, which can be pretty debilitating. RSVPing late was pretty rude, but it sounds like it might be a medical emergency that caused them not to come. Are they telling the truth?

I don't know. I try to avoid thinking that someone would lie like that... especially after RSVP'ing yes. They moved to the midwest last year, so I haven't seen them in about a year. Mom sent a shower card to the wife, and she never acknowledged it, he only RSVP'ed for the wedding (without the wife and kids) after me hunting them down (about 6 weeks after the RSVP date)... then the sudden cancelation.

never received a shower card or a wedding card. Also, I heard the wife complained that our wedding was during the school year, and she didn't want to take the kids out of school just to attend.

At around the same time they weren't responding to my invitation, their daughter had her first communion, and I sent her a card and gift.... never received a thank you card for that either... (my mom got a TY for her gift, though).

I'm miffed.

F THEM!!! No way would I send a card- that's so rude of them to not have sent you a card for your wedding- that is something that happens once in your life and they can't sign their name and stick it in the mail!???? I say no to the holiday card!

I woud if it meant affecting my parents relationship with them.

We have a bit of family drama going on right now and I will be the better person only for my mom, no other reason. JMHO

Sounds like they have a well-established pattern of rudeness and their lapse around your wedding wasn't a fluke. I revise my answer: don't send them one unless it will affect their relationship with your family. Good luck.

Just as someone else posted on here...unfortunately I would send a card if it meant that it was going to cause a feud between my family or DH's family.

We had some drama going on with DH's aunt 2 weeks before the wedding wherein she called me a 'F'ing little biatch' b/c she misunderstood the situation. Every year I usually send them a Christmas card which I address them as Aunt & Uncle. this year it will be addressed as the Smith Family..... If I don't send one, it will cause a lot of problems since I've sent them for the past few years! Unfortunately I HAVE to go to her house for Christmas Eve! It stinks to have to do it but I have to just s*uck it up for his family.

Like I said, if it will cause drama then I would send one. If not then I wouldn't.

based off of this.....I would say NO....knowing your mom got a TY and you didn't when you took time out of your wedding planning to send her daughter a gift......don't even trouble yourself writing out a card for them......NO CARD FOR U!! (that was supposed to be in the soup nazi's voice btw!

I generally try to give people the benefit of the doubt, but after reading this I would not send them a card. Sounds like they are just completely wrapped up in their own world.
