I heard a loud noise last night but I didn't think anything of it, but apparently due to a domestic violence dispute a woman shot & killed her husband last night right up the block from me in Howard Beach. It was like CSI on my block all day- all the news teams, forensics people and cops. the husband was a retired NYPD detective, they had 2 college aged kids, the whole situation is just sad. a UPS delivery guy is the one who called the cops, he had a package to deliver and he found them. I still don't understand the timeline of everything. I didn't really know the family, since I've only been here the last 2 years, but I think they've lived here for a few decades since my IL's know the family from the neighborhood.
channel 7 interviewed me, but I didn't make the cut for the news at 5 (but my neighbor vinny did)......so crazy!! you can see my house in the background of most of the news footage! and in one shot they panned past our house and me, MIke, my sis & neighbor were all standing outside.
OMG So wierd cause last week that doctor got murdered on my block!!! (79th and York) Thats kind of erie. I have chills! be careful!

its so horrible, someone was on the news saying that the wife was at mass on Sunday and she looked battered up, they thought she had a broken nose.....its just a sad sad situation, I feel very strongly about domestic violence and without knowing the story (whether it was self defense) it really seems like a lose-lose situation, especially for their kids!

those poor kids, no father and probably won't see to much of there mother.. I hope they have family that will be able to take care of them .. so sad

That is crazy!!! Sad to say...but at least it wasn't some random murder by some unknown person you have to worry about....many prayers for the kids!!

wow. that's crazy. When I was in Elmont last year a kid killed his parents and my block was lit up with lights from news cameras & cops for a week. It's a really weird thing to have happen so close to you.

Theres always 2 sides to every story.Who knows what was happening in that house. As a victim of domestic violence in a previous relationship with my son's father, I sugar coated everything, as if I was ok, and the truth is I wanted to harm him in the worst way. But I thought about my son, and had my brothers pack my stuff up, and left.It's a VERY sad situation. Even for her. Call her a murderer, or what you will, but who knows if she just couldn't take it anymore.

its so terrible! My family has known the family from around teh neighborhood and school and whatnot and it is a TOTAL shock!!! I cannot believe this happened down the street from me! i didnt want to be interviewed but my mom was on the video clip that helen posted
