When dh and I met with the priest we were both separated and asked some questions. One of the questions was are you under any kind of psychiatric treatment. I guess if you answer yes they want to follow up on it and make sure you are entering into the marriage with a sound mind .

Nope-I saw a therapist in SC-ya know the issues in my marriage but I really saw one b/c I had issues with the move to SC while my family was here, the priest asked but they didnt ask where, who or what.

Thanks.

I just can't see how it is any of their business regarding outside counseling, since there is pre-cana and FOCUS and meetings with the priest.
It just seems as if the Church, or perhaps this particular Church, is overstepping their bounds on this issue.
I am not Catholic but attended Catholic school and this is the first time I have ever heard about this.

I was asked the same thing...and I was honest and said that I had been in therapy years before.

They had to 'look into it.' The deacon spoke to someone else within the church about it (a priest or something- i forget who) and decided it wasn't a big deal. I never had to sign a form for them to talk to my doctors.

That's ridiculous.
