Re: How can I go about this in a nice way?????

Still not coming anywhere NEAR what my DH's cousin copied from our wedding...

but, you could always toss out a

'hey, LOL, I like this- it's making me feel like we're all back at MY wedding again'

Hopefully, that will make her realize that she needs to make some changes.

Is it possible that she just thinks that the things you did were 'the norm?'

I got really offended at ALL the things that were copied from my wedding. Then my mother pointed at that the other bride's family is new to the US, and this was one of the 1st weddings they went to, so they probably thought that everything I did was just 'the norm' and had to be followed.

I can understand how you're upset but I would think that your SIL is just going to look silly when her wedding comes since so many people will remember that it's a copy of yours. I know if I was a guest at both weddings I would def. feel the 2nd bride just 'copied' everything.

What does your DH think? Maybe he can say something to her?

Honestly, your day is done, and was first--everyone will know you did that stuff first and they were your ideas. I'd be flattered instead of upset. No one will think any less of you, and your day was special because it was yours.

Only because I've been in Maxine's situation, I can attest that it's not flattering when a lot of things are copied from the wedding.

One or even TWO things IS definitely flattering. But, after that, it becomes almost insulting- like we were 'brides for hire' for someone else. All of our hard work- just for someone else to copy as if it were their own. Except of course, they don't have to do the research, spend as much time, etc.

Gosh, don't let me get started...

I guess so. I just feel like my day is done. Been there, done that. Nothing about it really upsets me anymore. I've even loaned the actual stuff from my wedding to other people, and were glad they were able to make use of it.

true, but Maxine's wedding was very recent as compared to this new wedding, with most of the same guests, at the same hall.

Honestly, as a guest, I wouldn't really notice that many of the things were the same. For those who do notice, I think they will just think she is copying. I think if you make a big deal about it, you will come off as the difficult one, since she is the bride. I know it is bothering you, but if I were in your position, I would just let it go.

Well thats the thing these guests will notice. Everything she copies are the things people ( esp the people in DH's family) have come to me and commented on over and over. Even at my sil's bridal shower they wouldnt shut up about my wedding!!! Like I said I am more then happy to help... even STRANGERS on this board with 'my' slipper basket idea, lending people my tiara, helping people make votive place cards

Its like Sue said the same guests, the same halll and sooooooo much of the same stuff.

DH commented to her yesterday when he heard he say she was going to do the same TY's as us and he goes ' you know you dont need to copy everything we did' but he said it kind of joking b/c he didnt want to get her upset and in all honestly its not really a situation that calls for being nasty imo but all he got out of it was her laughing it off

Then I think she is going to look foolish, because they will all notice that she is copying you . If she is just laughing it off, it seems like she doesn't care that everyone will notice. Maybe she's just too lazy to do her own planning.

Do you really think that people will notice that much? I know it may seem that way since as a newlywed and a recent bride you may tend to concentrate on the details more. Is it possible that the guests may notice a few things but wouldn't really give it so much weight?
