Re: No Shows... Did you contact them?

most contacted me eventually... I was a no show at a wedding recently being that i was in the emergency room and they called to find out if all was OK the next day before I got a chance to call them.. I guess they realized that I would just not show up to their wedding unless it was an emergency! I say call because something may have happened but, give them a bit of time to call you first!

Re: No Shows... Did you contact them?

We only had one no show so after our HM (2 weeks after our wedding) I posted the same question you asked and after all the responses I decided to call her, being that she was my friend and former boss.

She said that she had to go in for emergency oral surgery the day of my wedding (a Sunday). I said I hope you are feeling better, and she said she had a gift for DH and I. Well we are still waiting. lol

I have not spoken to her since.

Re: No Shows... Did you contact them?

3 no shows:

1. the wife of a guest. at the receiving line, he said that his wife was sick

2. DH's uncle wanted to bring a girlfriend and it didn't go over well with my IL's because his deceased wife was the blood relative to DH. So, he didn't bring the girlfriend (even though we paid for her to be there, since he asked us to let him bring her)

3. Someone 'pretended' to be at the wedding, but I got confirmation from other guests that she did NOT attend. Can't really confront her because she had her mother bring a gift for us and had her sister sign her name in the guest book. But, she wasnt' there. She called us 7 days before the wedding and tried to make us add on a date for her, even though it was too late. It was a very cordial conversation, but her requests were very obnoxious and could not be granted with only 7 days to go...

Re: No Shows... Did you contact them?

I had a fair amount of no-shows. And no, I didn't contact them because I knew they were fine from other people at the wedding telling me so. I will not go out of my way to speak to them ever again, and I will RSVP yes to anything they invite me to and not show. Yes, I know, spiteful. I did forgive my uncle, who just called a few days after my one year anniversary to apologize. BUT he had left a message on my wedding day explaining why he couldn't come.

I think is was just SO rude. The sad thing is that I know THEY think nothing of it because most of them were from my Dad's side and this is not unusual for them.

ETA: I even had one of my no-shows show up when the wedding was over to pick up his father. I was just getting into my limo with DH when I noticed. I went over to him flipped out on him. To this day, I still never let him live that one down. His excuse - he thought it was the following week and he had a game that day!

If it was only a couple of people I would probably call and say, 'I hope everything is ok, we missed you at the wedding' and see what they have to say.

We had one couple that didn't show. I haven't contacted them--we did receive a check in the mail from there but no explanation....I'll write something in the thank you about missing them at the wedding. I heard from a mutual friend that their child got sick and they couldn't travel

Re: No Shows... Did you contact them?

We had a few. One guest and his date did not show. We heard their explanation from another guest - flooding in their basement, which was understandable on the day of our wedding - but have not heard from them directly. Another friend of my DH's and his wife did not show. DH has called and not received a return phone call. Another friend of DH's mother didn't make it. We heard she fell and broke her hip trying to pump out her basement. I feel so bad about that. I don't know her at all, but I'm going to send her a get-well card.

I'm just PO'd that the couples who didn't show have not sent cards. They obviously intended to come because they RSVP'd 'yes' and we did pay for them.
