Re: Did the wedding cause any serious rifts with friends/family?

I had some similar issues, but things in my family have pretty much gone back to the way they were. That's not to say that things were preferable, but that's how they were for 25 years, so changing that much wasn't going to happen.

Anyway, if you were close to your uncle to begin with, then I would tell him that his money was never what you were looking for, so you won't be cashing the check. Tell him what you just told us.

Sorry to hear about your uncle.

Nothing major in my family, I mean there are alsways some sore spots, but nothing too crazy

my bridesmaid from hell who was a family friend tried her best to ruin the wedding - getting so drunk she had to be escorted outside - then cursed me out after we came back from the honeymoon because she was treated horribly -
it is one of those if the world didnt revolve around her things - i forget sometimes people can be really wierd about stuff like that - have not talked to her since - but trust me no love lost

DH's cousin. She was a BM and was horrifying through every minute of the wedding.

That's an issue that will never die.

Most things, like people who didn't show up, responded no unexpectedly or gave $50 gifts, I've let go.

The grudge I'm holding against my BMs for not doing a darn thing to do anything remotely resembling a bachelorette party, I'll hold on to for a while.

Oh yeah! Because of certain actions taken by my Mom, sister and MOH, I didn't talk to my Mom for over a year. I started patching things up with my Mom this past summer, but it was hard. I still won't talk or have anything to do with my sister and MOH.

Re: Did the wedding cause any serious rifts with friends/family?

I had a split with a dear friend after the wedding. She got really negative and nasty about me being married and even made a few comments about not being one of the BMs. In a way I guess it was wedding related because I didn't chose her as a BM. I still miss her friendship but I couldn't take the negativity anymore.

The lack of involvement from my mother was expected, and I still had a great day despite her not helping me get ready, not attending the RD, and leaving the wedding early. But I reached out to her during the process, including sending her an airline ticket to come to the shower and bending over backwards while she was here. We never talk (and haven't been close at all for about 15 years) and that's fine, the wedding was really the last straw of my reaching out, which I have done over and over since I was 15. Sadly I actually miss my friend more.
