Honestly, I would do nothing. I know that will be hard, but I think you are better off trying to stay out of it.

I agree! I think it would be worse if you get involved, it would be like choosing sides and all sorts of drama would unfold... also, you have no concrete evidence your BIL was involved, you can only go by 'hearsay', so you can't just accuse him with no proof.... the brothers should work it out for themselves without involving you both.

this is a very tough situation. I think you should not do anything unless you guys know for sure it was Alex, and then would you get him arrested? I don't think so, your DH would never forgive you. If with time it is discovered it was in fact Alex then I would expect for your DH or the mom to take care of the costs.
It ***** but sadly, the kid is who he is thanks to the mom. I have certain issues with my own bro bc of my parents being so lenient, of course he is no where near to a juvenile criminal, but instead a lazy ***. It's tough to deal with situations like these especially if the family decides to do nothing about such behavior. I am so sorry your bro is going through this but I would recommend that he keep his distance from Alex. Sure they can be around each other in family events but I don't think he should hang out with Alex being he is how you say he is.

I'm sorry to hear you are going through such a tough situation. I couldn't agree more, very well said. Often when we get ourselves involve in something that's already turning into a mess, it ends up getting worse. Let them work it out among themselves and see what happens. When it comes time for you to take action and do something then you can step up. Right now, it's a lot of bickering back and forth, the only democratic thing to do w/o taking sides is to see how it works itself out.

Sorry to hear you are going through this tough situation!
I personally do not think you should say anything to your DH about the possiblity of his brother being responsible for the damage to your brother's car. I'm sure he knows the way his brother is but like you said at the end of the day no matter how horrible someone is he is still DH's brother.
Reading all the crap he has done leads me to believe he will do something else and in time your DH will realize his brother's actions without you having to say anything!
