Since you are pregnant you are 'exempt.' Don't stress over it. God will forgive you.

I think so. Just say an extra prayer in church on Sunday!

A) I don't think the 'rules' apply to pregnant women.

B) I highly doubt that Jesus being all forgiving is going to say no, you go to hell because you had a piece of chicken. I personally think that this is such a crock load, and I'm sorry to offend, but this is really why I hate organized religion. I can't wrap my head around why you should be forced to not eat something to prove you're a good person. What does that prove? That you take direction well. Not that you're a good person.

I say if you're hungry and you feel weak, eat. It's more important to keep that baby well than to go by the books I say.

I agree Jenny!! God loves you and your little bebeh!!! He wants you to be well fed and healthy, even on a Friday in Lent. Say lots of prayers and tell him how hungry your baby is for chicken. haha. LOVE YOU MAMACITA!!!!!

LOL- more because if my ex=priest father in law finds out I'm afraid he will be angry - If it was up to me i would eat it

I always thought it was to allow less animals to not be sacrificed and killed during the time butthat may be my greek dads religion, not sure...

Actually I heard it was because the Vatican made a deal with the fishermen to increase fish sales.

See, this is what I mean!!!!

Re: Greek Orthodox, fasting is supposed to clear your mind and make you more spiritual and prepared to receive the teachings. That was the the sermon on the first Sunday in Lent at least. As far as I'm aware it has nothing to do with animal sacrificing. And yes, I realize I sound like a ginormous hyppocrite, but that goes to show you how much I love my devout Greek hubby, so I go with him.

Yeah, that's what I read somewhere. It doesn't matter to me WHY we have to do it though. All I know is in comparison to the reason we celebrate Easter, not eating meat on Fridays is a VERY small sacrifice! At least to me!
