Yes to both. They keep your old passport and return your marriage license. I did it and the marriage license was returned it with my new passport.

yes...you had to send in your BC as well when you first got your Passport...they deal with them everyday...so it is pretty safe...worst case scenario...you order a new one...

as for credit cards...most were easy for me (including AMEX)...but one told me they want me to send in a copy of my marriage cert!! and I am so lazy...so I'm thinking of not changing it...

and I had to go to macys to show them, since I tried to buy something online and forgot what name the card was in...
