Yet another name change question-what do you do if you changed your mind?

I hyphenated on my marriage license, but now it seems like a PIA to go around with that forever, so I am thinking I should just take his. Can I do that?
Legally?

When we went to get our marriage license I was not sure if I was going to change my name or not. They told me that if I wanted to change my name after the wedding date that I would have to have it changed by a lawyer. I don't know if that is true or not.

That's was I was thinking.
I haven't goen to SS yet. I can't go to SS with my marriage license that says Heather Her-Him
& say I was to be Heather Him, can I ?

I just went to SS and did something similar. I had put myfirstname hislastname on marriage license, but I decided to keep my last name in there also, so at SS office I told them to make it Myfirstname Mylastname Hislastname (no hypen). They did it without any problems.

Interesting. maybe I'll just go & ask, hopefully I'll have a nice SS employee that day.
