yet another unemployment question

yet another unemployment question

let's say somebody makes you an offer...and you decline it. you have to report that back to unemployment when you file your claim. will that end your unemployment benefits because you declined an offer?

I am considering an offer but not 100% certain because I have a few interviews lined up and don't want to accept the first offer. I want to know all the facts before I accept or decline.

I'm not sure but I know when i was a manager we had a log and we had to report back to the comp. those people who declined offers. so i'm wondering if the comp. has an obligation at any point to turn that info in?

Re: yet another unemployment question

i posted this a while back cuz i didn't know what the 'rules' were when it came to offers/jobs/unemployment and im still not 100% sure

here's what i found before
Be willing to accept the usual rate of pay for a person of your qualifications and experience AND Federal law says that states may not deny unemployment benefits to eligible employees for refusing to accept “new
work,” if the “wages, hours, or other conditions of the work offered are substantially less favorable to the individual than those prevailing for similar work in the locality.”

What is an offer of “new work?” New work covers new assignments when the job contains different
duties from those the employee agreed to in his or her contract. It also covers different terms or conditions of employment from those in the existing contract. If a new job offer consists of different duties than a prior job, it is new work. For example, if a person previously worked as a secretary, and is offered a job as an accounting clerk, this is “new work,” even if the same employer is involved. If the transfer or the new job is at $8 per hour, and the prior job was at $10 per hour, it is new work.

how they would find out...not totally sure.

Re: yet another unemployment question

You do not have to report that you declined a job offer to unemployment. Typically, they do not ask for the specifics of your job search. And from what I understand unemployment does not ask companies for a list of who declined job offers.

Any company who keeps a list of people who declined an offer are probably only doing so for internal purposes - such as to keep track if this person applies for another job at another time with that company. They might be less likely to make than a second offer.

You unemployment benefits will only end if they run out or if you start full-time employment.
