You know what i HATE about being married....

nothing to do with DH... but when ever i go anywhere or im at work... people look at me and say.. 'your married'... i answer yes.. and they respond with something ignorant like 'oh hunny your too young to be married' 'why did you do something liek that at your age you have your whole life to get married'... 'how old are you any way?' 'how do you parents feel about you being married so young?' 'are you happy?'

IF I WANTED YOUR STUPID OPINIONS I WOULD HAVE ASKED!!! BUT I DIDNT SO KEEP IT TO YOURSELF!!! and my parents are just fine with it since they were married for 4 years and had a baby at my age already!!!

sorry i just needed to vent!.. i used to get it when i was engaged but not half as bad as i do now!

Annoying that is when people really should keep their comments to themselves

Tell them you just woke up one day and decided to get married

True
People will always say rude things and are always great about judging others about their marriages, kids, finances, etc...sometimes i want to tell these people to take a good look at themseleves and assess their own marriage instead of worrying about mine

DH always says you should tell them your 18 and have 3 kids so you figured getting married was the right thing to do

That's annoying. I'm 28 and I still get that at work. I work in manhattan and most of my co-workers didn't 'settle down' until mid-to-late 30s. I've even gotten it from people my own age. SO strange!

don't let it get to you bc either way people seem to have comments.

Before i was engaged i had family asking me if im ever going to get married bc im getting old. Some ppl were thinking i was a lost cause and it wont happen they all had the mentality that you should get married young. Not be in your mid 20's out partying .

of course now that im close to 30, it'll be about when i have a baby

I hate the man that follows me around my house every night asking me if I washed his socks and do I know where his phone is.

Re: You know what i HATE about being married....

You know that is pretty rude of people! Why cant people keep their comments to themselves!

And I wanted to add I think its a NY thing. I have cousins and many friends in other states who were married right out of college....no biggie - totally normal to do that where they live! But in NY, I think it takes alot longer for people to establish themselves etc and that is why people get married later in life. So now everyone thinks that getting married later in life is the standard.

On a side note - all of DH's friends got married younger, at like 23 and he is the last of like 5 or 6 friends to get married. They always looked at him like HE was missing out because he wasnt married. And right after our wedding one of the wives said to me 'Now you are in the club' YIKES..rude! However little do they know that he was creativing a future for himself and climbing the corporate ladder, etc...which none of them did. (Plus no one was worthy of marrying until me LOL!) Ok sorry for venting so long on your post!

Yes....I get this all the time and i HATE it. Do you notice that they follow it up with 'When are you planning on having children?' Well 3 seconds ago I wasn't old enough to be married, now you wanna know when I'll be popping out kids? W T F?
