Good morning. I have a Zanax (sp? xanax) prescription for flying anxiety. Its actually generic brand and is only .25 mg. What is the safest amount to take. .25 mg doesnt do much so I usually take at least 2 but am thinking even 3 is safe. Maybe I should call the dr. but I dont go to that dr anymore

I take Xanax and I have Rx's for both .25 AND .5 (for when the wedding planning anxiety was REAL bad). Even the .5 doesn't knock me out so I am not totally sure what to tell you. I would honestly contact your current doctor (if you have one) and discuss it with them first. I usually drug myself w/ Xanax, Bonine AND I wear the wristbands LOL!
i think i usually take .5. It doesnt really knock me out though- just relaxes me a bit. i probably need a full 1. But call the doctor and ask.

I say do 1 pill and 1/2 than in 1/2 hr later if it does not feel better take the other 1/2.
As a nurse I don't feel comfortable giving advice on self medicating controled meds, one way or another. The only advice I will give is to ask your Dr.
