We searched everywhere for a wedding venue, but after months of searching we found nothing that suited us.  I knew I was not a ball gown and ballroom kind of girl… and I was beginning to lose hope I would ever find a place.  That was until my fiancé Chris found a very non-traditional place to get hitched.  It was perfect.  We were married at Surf’s Out in Kismet, Fire Island on the hottest day in August 2012.

My morning started, as every wedding day should, with an outdoor shower and then breakfast with my bridesmaids from Rachel’s Bakery in Ocean Beach.  After a few hours of getting ready with the girls, it was time for Chris and me to have our “first look.”  Ocean Beach, Fire Island was the perfect backdrop for our amazing pictures.  North Island Photography captured these beautiful moments that combined our personalities and the romance that only a beach town can have.

After a few stops around the town, it was time to head off to the ceremony in Kismet.  Instead of taking limos to our ceremony and reception (because we were on an island with no cars, surrounded by water), we all boarded water taxis and cruised along the coast of Fire Island.  This was an exciting start to our wedding day especially when the boat started to take on some water.

We were married on the dock outside of Surf’s Out, under a gazebo.  Our officiant, Keith Gugliuzza from NYmarriages, presided over a touching ceremony.  Our guests looked on as they shaded themselves with paper parasols and sipped lemonade.  After that, it was time to party!  Our band “Infinity” kept the party rocking all night, and it all culminated with one of our Best Men, Tommy, getting on the drums and rocking out to James Brown – I feel good.

From our first dance to the last, the night could not have been any better; our favorite people surrounded us, in our favorite place, with great food, and excellent music; what more could anyone ask for…  (maybe rainbow cookie cupcakes from Manhattan Sweets Bakery – perfection!)
