'08 and '09 brides things you might like to know
Don't put off searching for key vendors for your event, even if you do not have the money to look now.
So many times all you need to hold the date for their services is a contract and a small deposit.
Prices change! Book them asap and make a deposit and get a contract.
Find a florist and get an estimate. This is potentially your only vendor where the prices can change due to flower costs etc. Find a person you trust and holds the same vision. Find someone with patience and who has experience with all different sizes of weddings.
Find your venue as soon as possible. Ask a lot of questions and be sure to write everything down, questions and answers. Book as quickly as you possibly can becuase it will allow you to have more time to pay for your big day.
When you are buying your wedding dress, search for vendors that are allinclusive in the price. Most dress shops tell you that you have to pay X amount of dollars for alterations, most will not tell you that that price doesn't include a bustle. Ladies, I swear to you I thought all gowns with trains came with bustles. SO WRONG. I found a dress I liked and THEN called shops that carried thw brand and started shopping for the best price. I found a bridal store in Queens that will order my dress and do all alterations including my bustle for $720 + tax. This also includes steaming my dress before pick up!
I almost ordered this dress online at one of the many 'discount places' for 545$. Had I done that, with outside alterations I would have probably payed close to $1,000. I you find a place that does everything on site you can save yourself a bundle!
I highly suggest that you pick your dresses for your bridemaids. Pick something you know everyone can afford or set a limit on what you think they should spend. This saves a lot of tension between all of the girls.
I have so much info I would love to share but this is already so long.
I am a bride who never dreamed of a big wedding and reception, I have learned SO much. If you have any questions please FM me.
