08er crashing with Anniversary Cake Q

Hi 07 Ladies!

My friend was asking how to preserve the top of her wedding cake (she was just married on 11-17). Right now, it's just sitting in the fridge... she wants to freeze it, but not sure how to wrap/preserve. Does anyone have suggestions for this!!

Thanks so much!!

you should wrap it first in saran wrap . a few layers. then in foil a few layers as well. Then if she has a large tuberware or plastic container put it in there and freeze it. If not wrap it again in freezer paper and then put in a big plastic zip loc. When you defrost it take out of freezer and put in refrigerator with all the wrapping on. When defrosted which should take about 2 days then unwrap. It may not taste the best but this way it won't get freezer burn.

It should have been frozen right away.
After 12 days I don't think it would still be good.
Best thing to tod it to cut into it and try it.

We ate ours when we came back from the honeymoon because we never ate cake at the reception.
Cake frozen for one year is never good anyway.

Our reception hall wrapped the cake. It's in a box with saran wrap (not sure what the actual cake is wrapped in). Hopefully it's okay. Otherwise, the bakery we used is five minutes away, so we'll order a small cake for the anniversary.

Our RH wrapped in plastic wrap and put it in a box. I wraped the cake itself with foil over the plastic wrap and put it in the box and then wrapped the box in foil as well. Not sure if I did it right but well find out in 7 months or so.

I don't think it would be good now either. It's been almost two weeks in the fridge, it's probably gone bad already....

I wrapped and froze mine the day after the wedding and then defrosted it two weeks later. It was a whipped cream cake and lasted for about 5 days before it got stale and the cream developed an off taste.

The cake has to be wrapped in plastic so there is no air trapped. That's the key, but it won't look pretty when defrosted.
Better to eat it right away and get a new cake for the anniversary.

Hmmm.....

I hope mine is ok!

I just took the box I got from the RH and put it in the freezer when we got home. Never even looked to see what it looked like, or how the RH wrapped it.

ive only heard horror stories about eating year old cake. i have no clue about preserving it, sorry. i would just have a replica made to enjoy for the anniv, JMO. we only froze ours for a month...ate it after we got back from our HM, and it was already kinda gross/stale tasting, lol.

NRC just put in the box as is with the plastic wrap on the outside. Just take out the frozen cake, wrap it tightly in plastic wrap then put it back in the box. Either put foil or plastic wrap around the outside of the box.
Other option is to eat it.

I left mine in the box and threw it in the freezer
