My wedding is early in 09 so we are dealing with invite stuff now. We are only sending out one wave of invites (small wedding, so we are only inviting the people we want there). We are sending out the invites in early December for our mid-Feb wedding because we want to beat the holiday card mail. When should we have our RSVP date? Everyone is telling me Jan. 31st. But is that too late? Then I am only going to be starting to call people 16 days before the wedding when people don't send in their RSVPs (and I have read your boards, which tell me I am going to be missing A LOT of RSVP cards on my deadline!).

Re: 09-er crashing - invite RSVP date help
16 days is not enough time between RSVP date and wedding. You will have lots of people out of town for vacation during the months of December and January who won't open their mail.
My suggestion is: Sent out invitations in first week of December RSVP date = January 15
That way, you have 4 weeks to follow up with people. Our RSVP date is 4 weeks before our wedding date.

Do one month prior to your wedding. This is what we're doing. This way it gives you time to get in touch with the people that haven't responded.

I would say the same 3-4 weeks before your wedding- this way you have plenty of time to call.

Re: 09-er crashing - invite RSVP date help
the first thing you need to consider is when is your call in date for your reception location?
every venue has a date that you have to call in your final number and that number is what you PAY FOR - so it's very important that your number be accurate.
I would make your RSVP date at the minimum 7-14 days BEFORE that date (though i would suggest 3 weeks), so that you have time to make all your calls.

Thank you - FH is going to call the RH and find out what day we give our final count, and we will work backwards from there.

I would make it January 16th. You are goin gto end up having to track people down, so make sure you give yourself enough time.
