My wedding is in march 09 and I was thinking of taking our wedding photos at the Planting fields. So I just called over there and the woman asked what time would we want to take the pics. I figure around 5pm because our ceremony is at 3 - 4 and then figure by the time we get there will be around 5 (i live in brooklyn, so I have to consider traffic and stuff). Now the woman tells me to think about it because we may not have ENOUGH LIGHT when we take the pics cause of the time of day and the time of year!!!! What do I do?? Is that really true??
Did any of you girls that got married in march take your pics there???

just be sure you're really organized - 45 minutes isn't a lot of time to take all your pics, but you can do it if there isn't a lot of time spent getting people together, etc.

honestly, i think that the woman at the picture location *could* be right ....
the sunlight starts to decrease before the actual sunset time ...
i would look into a place that also has an option for indoor photos. we took pics in november at old westbury gardens and it really started to get dark very quickly when we were there. we took only a few pictures outside ... then we were able to move inside to complete the rest.

i just attended a wedding this past weekend and i was in the bridal party. we took pictures there and we had to be IN the park before 4:50 otherwise they wouldnt let us in. we cut it close with a 3pm ceremony getting there on time (and this was in july)

ok well i didnt take pictures at that place, but i just got married on 3/29/08, our cermony was at 200pm and by the time we got done the ceremony, did the recieving line and did pictures in the church, and get to the park where we where taking pictures it had to be at least 415, we didnt get to our recpetion hall intill 530-545 and it was still sunny enough to take pictures for another 30 minutes if we needed i think you should be fine

She might be right....did you think about seeing each other before the ceremony?? I know its not 'traditional' and I was WAYYYYYagainst it in the beginning but we were having the same issue with the sunset time and a couple of photographers highly recommended taking pics before....we are still looking forward to the big 'reveal' and we will make it to our cocktail hour because pics will be done
Something to think about....

I agree...if you would be willing to do the pictures before the ceremony then you won't feel rushed and the lighting won't be an issue. We are actually having our ceremony at Coe Hall at the Planting Fields, and decided to do the pictures first so that lighting isn't an issue (and so we can enjoy the cocktail hour!!!!!) HTH!
