How many months before your wedding did you order your dress? I really don't want to do it too early but I don't want to cut it too close either.
I was thinking of looking in September.....

depending on designers, some dresses take up to a year to come in. I would start looking about 14 months in advance.. Don't forget, you'll need about a month or so for alterations.

I ordered mine with a little more than a year til my wedding. But thats b/c im impatient and couldnt wait lol
Sept would be perfect for you. Besides if it came in early, most places will keep it there for you until its time for fittings and then you pick it up closer to your wedding

and I ordered it in October and I'm getting married in September. They gave me a 7 month EDT so it will be here in May and that gives me about 4 months in case something is wrong, etc...

it'll depend on the designer. some will take over 12 months, some will take 3 months. i ordered my dress in june, and it came in in Sept, and they told me it would take 6 months. there's no harm in getting the dress early, the bridal salon will hold it for you until you're ready to go for fittings.

it depends on the designer. I ordered mine in August, and thought I had plenty of time... the gown still isn't in yet.
other people order and get them super fast.
i would talk to salons about the specific designers and order times.

That is good to know that the salon will hold it. I was worried that if I went too early I would have to find some place to keep it.....my cats would destroy it if I had to keep it in my house!!

I ordered mine yesterday and it takes 12 weeks. I started looking in November- it took me a little while to find what I wanted- so I would say start looking at least a year ahead maybe a little earlier.

i went a year ahead of time. But i would say even if you go 8-10 months before its fine...i went that far in advance bc i honestly thought it was going to take me forever to find a dress and a long process that couldve taken months...meanwhile i got it the first time i went hahaha

I actually bought mine, paid it off, and have it home with me since December.... so 11 months in advance! When you find the one, get it or it could be discontinued!

i just ordered mine - 11 months before my wedding - my dress takes about 6 months to come in - should be in by June/July which gives me plenty of time for my December wedding

I ordered my dress last January and it is STILL not it. They said it should be here by Februaury. So that is making it over 1 year from the date ordered to delivery

If it's not from David's Bridal (which gets the gowns in like two months before your date) then I would order at the very least 8 months before - I ordered mine the end of May 07 and it will be in any day now...my gown is a Maggie Sottero.
