I know I have a long way off, but I am curious. When are you supposed to start your registry?

Re: 1 more question

I am getting married a few months before you and I haven't started mine yet. I don't know if there's any specific time where you are supposed to do it. I am going to concentrate on booking my major vendors and then register. I would think you just need to have it a few months before your bridal shower. You should check theknot.com or weddingchannel.com as they tend to have all those etiquette and standard procedures for us newbies.

I don't know...I was thinking about doing it like at the end of next year (around this time). I am afraid I am going to pick something now and it will be discontinued or something by 2006. But I have heard people doing it early, so I am confused.

I started it two weeks ago. No getting married for 10 months but fiancee's mom's friends want to buy us engagement gifts so they said to register so they could get us useful things instead of just vases or whatever

I've told many brides on here my story. I registered too early (Jan for Oct wedding) and many of my things were discontinued by the time my shower came. Just be careful because you don't want to register too early

I would start a registry now. I tend to be picky about what I like. You do have to wait to do linens and towels wait until the season of your wedding. As for china and stemware, I would register now.

Even though we registered we got a few gifts that were not on the registry and are not my taste. I brought one bowl to Fortunoff's, Macy's, AND Bloomingdale's to try to return it with no such luck.
