10 year HIGH SCHOOL REUNION QUESTION:

If you have already had or been to your 10year reunion or planning is in the works...

Was it a formal event? Where was it held? Was it totally informal at a local bar or something?

When I think about a 10 year reunion, i envision what you see on tv or in the movies, a big event...is this how it is?

Thanks!

Re: 10 year HIGH SCHOOL REUNION QUESTION:

My 10 year was a little formal. It was held at the Holiday Inn in Plainview. I wore a long black dress and most of the girls were wearing something similar - like what you'd wear to a wedding (not super fancy though-but dressy). There was a buffet dinner and dancing. DH was about the same I think.

Re: 10 year HIGH SCHOOL REUNION QUESTION:

I'm having trouble remembering that far back ...

Actually ours was at Sfuzi at the World Financial Center (this was in 1996). My friend who organized it claims there were passed hors d'ouvres but I don't recall it. I would not call it *formal* but it was not like hanging at the local bar ...

Re: 10 year HIGH SCHOOL REUNION QUESTION:

Mine was held at the LaGrange in West Islip, I guess I'd say formal because it wasn't NOT formal...more semi-formal, I guess..

Re: 10 year HIGH SCHOOL REUNION QUESTION:

mien was semi-formal.
it swa sin samll room a tthe marriot in melville, buffett dinner.
peopel didn't sit much- msotly mingled, a little dancing towards the end.

Most people wore short dresses or skirts & tops you'd wear to a party.
some guys wore suits, some didn't, not really any suits.
the ere was a dj, peopel got drunk & acted like @sses & soeme broke a beer bottle on the dance floor . A fun time was had by all.

Re: 10 year HIGH SCHOOL REUNION QUESTION:

Mine was in 1999. It was at a Hotel (can't remember, think Huntington Hilton). It was semi-formal. I wore a black dress and my dh wore a suit. I thought it was a pathetic excuse for the girls to run around (without their husband and boyfriends) like they were in 10th grade!! I also was expecting a 'Romy and Michelle's Reunion' but got nothing like that. Out of over 1,000 people, only about 30 (including myself) sent in pictures/business cards of themselves. I felt down at the time because most of my good friends did not go so I got bored halfway through the night but then felt since I was happily married with a daughter that 'I' wasn't the loser. It was the ones who did not show up or even mention what they were doing now.
Have fun-lol!
P.S. I will probably go to my 20th in 2009 to try again!!

Same with Dhs reunion..only 30 people showed up. Mine was really small too, but it was in early October 2001, so a lot of people from out of town that were going to come didn't.

ETA: semi formal men wore suits or the sweater w/ a jacket thing. most girls wore pants suits or black cocktail dresses or plain gowns (not too dressy as I recall).

Re: 10 year HIGH SCHOOL REUNION QUESTION:

Mine was kind of a joke. Let me preface it by saying I went to an all-girl school.

It was at the Villa Bianca in Queens (which is now The Reception House). It was on a Saturday afternoon and was a buffet (I think) lunch and a slide show and a few speeches. It was 'business casual' I'd say.

:)
