10er crashing - anyone used the La Quinta Garden City?

10er crashing - anyone used the La Quinta Garden City?

Hi ladies! I'm having a dilemma with booking rooms at a hotel for the night of the wedding. I'm getting married at Westbury Manor and as of right now have rooms booked at the Hilton Garden Inn Westbury. After that I read a lot of good reviews about the La Quinta Garden City so FH and I went to check it out. We loved it - the rooms were huge and very clean, there was a nice big bar area for after and we get the free breakfast. The thing that I'm concerned about is about the shuttle situation. For 15 rooms they give you a shuttle for 14 people, that's not even 2 people per room. So right off the bat we have to pay for another shuttle. What if 4 people stay in a room, then we have to book another 2 shuttles at least? Did anyone else run into this problem? We're just torn if we should stay with the Hilton where they provide a shuttle for 2 people per room or if we should book at the La Quinta and possibly talk to our limo company about getting a bus or trolley or something. I'm trying to be as cost efficient as possible but it doesn't seem to be going that way lol Thanks girls for any input!

I used La Quinta. I did not have to many people for the shuttle but I do know that they have additionals shuttles for a small fee. We looked into just incase and it was considerably cheaper than going through a limo company. I would defintely reccommend them.

We used La Quinta for our room blocks. I would highly recommend them. I did not use their shuttle b/c we had too many oot guests instead they comped our suite for the night of our wedding. We used Classic coach for transportation for our guests. If you tell them you are using La Quinta they will offer you a competive price. They were MUCH cheaper then our limo company but not as fancy.

Thanks, that helps a lot. I think if we went with our own shuttle or bus we'll end up saving money rather than spending $200 for each additional van that we need through the hotel (Tyleen told me that it was $100 each way for each van). We really want to use the La Quinta over the Hilton so we're trying to figure out what to do. Thanks again

I used the Hilton Garden Inn in Westbury and they ROCKED. They also had a free shuttle--just so you know!

I used La Quinta for my guests and we had an awesome experience.. although we had two shuttles available to us at no charge so we didn't have the worry of having to pay for them

We 1st booked with Hilton Garden Inn (westbury) and then had such a HORRIBLE experience getting in touch with Nadine that it actually stressed me out- then she only booked my rooms for one night and not 2 nights.... they charged one of my bridesmaids FULL price on one night b/c of that mistake. I was soooooooooo annoyed that I called the main office and complained!

DH convinced me to look elsewhere bc he saw how upset this hotel was making me.... we went with La Quinta and Tyleen is SUCH A SWEETHEART!!!!!!!! She was always available to get in touch with and I didnt have one problem with them! From the minute we booked, I had no worries. There were 2 shuttles provided (didnt have to pay anything for them) and my friends and family said the shuttles were really nice & clean AND on time

We booked the block at La Quinta. it's worth it... for the extra people you can book another shuttle through them for $100 round trip. Don't even bother with the limo company. They can book extra shuttles you just have to pay for them... and for $100 each way it's worth it. They also hang a shuttle sign up with the times so your guests know.

Also remember some people don't always check in before the wedding... they may check in after (depending on where they are coming from... my people were from Queens mainly and staying on LI).

AND just another suggestion... make sure you have the hotel note that there maybe some late check in people... JUST INCASE people decide to check in after the wedding. What tends to happen is if they don't check in by a certain time they assume they aren't coming and may give the room away. This has happened before... so it's better to be safe than sorry.

Edit: We also worked with TILEEN and she is the BEST!!!!!!

We used LaQuinta, worked with Tyleen loved her! Basically, the free shuttle works like this: You have to book all 15 rooms in your block in order to get the free shuttle. The shuttle is a 14 passenger shuttle, and you get 2 trips free. What we did was add more trips. It was $100 each trip. We had 2 trips going, one trip at reception end, and one trip at after party end. It works out great, you can just add another trip. Or if you feel you need additional transportation, you may want to look into renting a bigger shuttle from a company but I don't think that's necessary.
