10er crashing! License Question.

Hey Ladies,

I am getting married the 1st week of January. I live in Ohio right now (I know, I know--pretty terrible, haha) because of FH's grad school, and we won't be able to go to Long Island until Christmas Eve. Have any of you brides gotten your license just the week before? Did you run into any problems? The only reason I'm sort of worried is because I am not sure what will be closed during that holiday week.

Thanks for any info/stories! :)

i didnt get mine a week before, but i dont see why it would be a problem...they give it to you right then and there, so as long as you go when they are open you should have a problem.

Im two weeks away and i had no problems today. If you are getting your license in one of the 5 boroughs you can do the application online and its valid for 21 days and you bring a money order for $35 you can also bring a bank check and your driver's license as well.

I got mine the week before no issues, it was more fun for us to do it that way because it started the whole craziness of the wedding week!

Just make sure its more the 24 hours in advance. I would however check with the offices to see what their holiday schedule is and plan around it.

I actually did mine today in NYC and we paid by credit card.

MAKE SURE that if you are not getting the lic in NYC (5 bourough's) That you have your ORIGINAL birth certificate with the raised stamp on it.

The last thing you want is to get here and not have what you need.

We have our DL, but we brought our passports. It was just easier to grab them and give them both as ID.

Also, do the form online!!!!! It saved a TON of time. We just went in, she called up our application, and in 5 min at the window we were done.

Good luck!

You don't have to have the original one, but it can't be a copy either. I don't have my original BC but I applied for a new one when I got engaged and it has the raised seal - that's all you need!

Just beware if you do the on-line form through NYC.gov you have to appear in person and complete the application within 21 days or else you will lose whatever you paid. HTH
