My fh cousin has told her mom that she wants to be our flower girl. We have a ring bearer but no flower girl. She will be 11 at the time of our wedding and she's not a small 11 yr old either. What do you girls think?

Re: 11 yr old flower girl?
hmm, tough call but i think 11 may be a little bit too old for flower girl but she could maybe be a junior bridesmaid? how old is your ring bearer? would there be a huge height discrepancy if they were paired up?

Re: 11 yr old flower girl?
I wouldn't think too much about how it looks. These things are arbitrary rules that we have in place, and I think these days more and more people bend or break the rules of the wedding party (ie, uneven numbers of guys and gals, more than one MOH, girls with differing dresses, etc). If it were me, and I really liked the little girl, I would have her as the flower girl if you didn't have any other. Besides, since she is older she will be more reliable to actually get down the aisle without a tantrum and will probably take a lot of pride in doing a nice job!
However, if you are very concerned with keeping things super traditional, a Jr. Bridesmaid may be a better idea. You could mix it up a little and have her wear a Jr. Bridesmaid dress but also drop the petals down the aisle?

The girl I asked will be older as well. I don't have any other young girls to ask and the little girl means the world to me. If she wants to be an 'older' flower girl then I'm all for it.

My ring bearer will be 5. I'm just going to ask her. It's not like she's a teenager and its my wedding! Lol thanks girls for your advice. I might not do the traditional white dress though.

Who cares? It's your wedding! She can be any age.. heck! it might be better because she won't get shy and the flowers will most likely be placed more evenly

I think if she wants to be the flower girl then go for it! I don't think anyone would really give it a second thought.

Silly as it sounds, my 22 year old sister was just the flower girl in my friend's wedding!! She said 'it's my day, and I'll do what I want!!'.
