121502... Wes Anderson!

Another Wes Anderson fan! Yay! Boogie Down was always the one who liked the same movies as me... but she left the boards!

Do you have any idea when the new movie is coming out? I know it's called _The Life Aquatic_ and I've read a little bit about it on the Internet Movie Database, but I have no idea when it's supposed to be in theaters... and I can't wait!!!!

I just saw this now, sorry I didn't reply yesterday!
His new movie is due out in the Fall. My FH is a filmaker and loves Wes Anderson. Most people I know have not heard of him or most of his movies and when I met JT, he was so shocked that I loved Rushmore and Bottle Rocket. JT has the original Bottle Rocket, too. I love all the music from his movies too. I think the guy from Devo does it all. (I might have the wrong band.)

Not sure about that part (maybe Donovan??) - the soundtrack's are pretty awesome though, nonetheless. The Royal Tenenbaum's was an excellent movie - one of my favorites.

Thanks for the info on the upcoming movie! I love the soundtracks, too... I'm an Elliott Smith fan and I was so thrilled when Anderson used 'Needle in the Hay' in _The Royal Tenenbaums_. And the guy who does most of the instrumental score is from Devo... Mark Mothersbaugh.

ETA: I can't decide which movie I like best. I think I've seen _Tenenbaums_ the most times, though!

Bottle Rocket is one of my all time favorite movies!!

Hey, ANYONE butt in The more Wes Anderson fans, the better! I have to say, though, I really think Rushmore is my all time favorite, but the Royal Tennenbaums just has this weird feel to it that I love.

Another fan! COOL! I recently got a cheap DVD copy from _Bottle Rocket_ and I love it.

All of Anderson's movies have SO MANY great lines in them, and yet I can never quote them out of context because they don't really make sense...

Like from _Rushmore_:

'These are O.R. scrubs.'
'Oh, ARE they?'

Or the classic from Owen Wilson in _RT_:

'What most people presuppose is that General Custer died at Little Big Horn. What this book presupposes is... maybe he didn't?'

JT and I saw Jason Shwartzman's band Phantom Planet a couple of years ago and they were awesome. I was so sorry to hear that he isn't in the band anymore, but his new show is pretty good. I love him!

Thanks - I'll have to check that out. I have to admit that while I like Jason, I LOVE Owen Wilson...all because of Bottle Rocket, actually.

Well, Wes Anderson movies are always worth talking about, no?

I have to say, though, my heart lies with Luke Wilson. GRRR! I just love something about Jason Shwartzman. The only crappy thing is that both Shwartzman and Owen Wilson get type-casted a lot. Owen always being ditzy and Shwartz usually being dry and book-ish.

YES!! Sometimes I want to shake them for choosing certain roles. The typecasting thing totally annoys me. Owen can't possibly be THAT stupid, can he?

Well....he WAS a hockey player who broke his nose quite a few times, maybe he really did lose those brain cells
