So, I saw this an another board and decided to borrow the idea. On Saturday, we were talking about working out and eating healthy and I thought we could help motivate each other in our weight lose journeys.
Today, I am back on the grind! Operation Get Skinny and Wedding Dress Prep campaigns are in full force!!
I went to the gym this morning before work and did 1 hour of cardio on the elliptical. I will also get back on track with tracking my food on myfitnesspal.com (my screen name is alwayztalkin, if anyone is also a member).
In the 6 ½ years that I’ve been with FH, I’ve gained a total of 65 pounds. Which is crazy!! How did I get so big?? I blame it on a lot of factors – being in love (Love Chub), FH doesn't work out, 4 years of undergrad and then moving to NY for grad school, eating unhealthy and not exercising. I got comfortable and FH loves me for who I am, so the pressure was never there to work out.
Once we got engaged and I saw pictures of myself from our engagement party, I knew I had to do something. In September, I joined a gym and started to eating better. I’m down a total of 18 pounds. Only 47 more to go! I refuse to walk down the aisle and look like a snow beast.
Just thought I would share my story.

Re: 1/30/12 - Gym Check-In
That is awesome Erika! Congrats on the weight loss!
Funny u post this today because I just started working out again this morn also. I did 30 mins on the treadmil at home. Not much, but its a start. Im also trying to eat healthier and incorporate more fruits and veggies into my diet. Also, portion control!
Ive always been on the thicker/chubby side. A few years ago I lost about 30-40 pnds and I was feeling great! I wanted to lose more but instead Ive slowly gained it all back. Like u, when I look at pix of myself now Im so upset at myself for putting the weight back on and I refuse to look the way I do now for my wedding.
So I am getting motivated. I plan to continue my 30 min sessions in the morn plus try to do a work out video or play some dance games on the wii/kinect in the evenings. FH is going to join me so it will be nice to have the support and motivate each other. Im not trying to get super skinny bcuz I always loved my curves but def want to get healthier and look and feel better.

This is great. Congrats on the weight lose!!
Last year I lost about 30 lbs. Since I've been engaged I've been so focused on the wedding planning that I have barely made it to the gym. Also it's cold and dark early in the evening so I really have no motivation to go to the gym after work.
I said to myself last week I need to get back on track and I made it to the gym only once. Last summer I was at the gym everyday, I did ZUMBA and sometimes I worked out twice a day. I really need to get back on track. I do not want to gain the weight back (so far I haven't) and I want to lose some more. I pack my lunch at home so I won't go out for lunch and end up buying something unhealthy. I try to avoid starches during the week so I bring fruits and vegetables to work.
I don't think I will make it to the gym today but I will try my best to workout using my exercise on demand. They have a lot of great workout series.
I hope we can motivate each other. I know I need the motivation!!!

Congrats on keeping the weight off!! I think that is the hardest thing to do. It's clear that you've made healthy eating a lifestyle! I don't like the word 'diet', because being healthy is an everyday thing. Anyone can work out, diet and lose weight. But once you end the diet, and stop eating healthy or working out…the weight will come back.
I think we are a great group of women and we definitely have each other’s back. We’ll be each other’s support system!

Re: 1/30/12 - Gym Check-In
OMG Erikaaaaaa.... you read my mind!
I packed my lunch today, which is a big step for me, and although Justin is still sick, I posted on my fb that it is Dance something or other 3 tonight. Saturday Jenni had seen old pictures of me, at the G2G and although I know I have gained almost 70lbs since mtg Justin, I have been able to avoid it, but when Jenni said 'wow' and I looked at my 'old' self I knew it was time. I ate 6 of Eunice's cupcakes... I either need an addication program or all I needed was a night with some great gals and honesty from Jenni.
So today it is, I have eaten right, dropped all the extras off at The Inn, and will do an hour of dance tonight. Lord help me find my rhythm.
Thanks Erika, Its nice to know I am not battleing what I can wedding day marshmallow man alone.
WE CAN DO THIS!!

Re: 1/30/12 - Gym Check-In
We can do this girls!! Its so great to not feel like your alone in this and that there are some of u girls who can totally relate. We'll all be here to help motivate each other.
Also, if anyone has some healthy and easy recipies plz do share! Im am trying to get ideas on what to cook that is healthier. Being latina, growing up the food isnt all that healthy. Lots of fried food, tons of rice lol This is where the portion control will come into play. I cant give up the foods I love, but I wana switch it up. Also Im a picky eater which doesnt help boooo! Lol

Re: 1/30/12 - Gym Check-In
From Jan. 2010 to May 2011 I gained 40 lbs! Damn getting hurt at work. FH and I went to a wedding and I saw the pictures and was like OMG what happened to me. That was my wake up call. FH and I started going on my fitness pal and so far he's lost 40lbs and I've lost 30lbs. (all this while still enjoying wendy's ) I would also like to report that today I did the treadmill for 60 minutes (slow pace of course) and the back didn't feel that bad, just a little stiff, hopefully it'll hold up the rest of the day, knock on wood.

Re: 1/30/12 - Gym Check-In
yay! I think the check-ins will definitely help :) I haven't been to the gym in about a week, and a new semester at my hs means all new students so I probably won't get back until Thurs or Fri but I'm going to try if you will!

I love this idea. i have to have blood work done today so I won't be able to eat till after my 5 o'clock appointment. So I just could not get motivated to work out this morning knowing I could not eat. But after dinner FH and I will be going to zumba!

I agree, That is awesome that your FH does zumba, I don't think I could pay mine to lol..
Everyone sounds like they are off to a great start, i started WW on Jan 1st and I am down 7.3 lbs already which I am so happy about, AND I just signed up for LA Fitness about a week and a half ago and have been going a lot...we can all get through this together! :)
I get free guest passes so we should all pick a night and do zumba or something fun together!

Re: 1/30/12 - Gym Check-In
I would love to Zumba together! Or at least try it once lol. I was just thinking about getting back into running... I used to go a couple miles 3 times a week. Now since I did yoga teacher training, I yoga several times a week and yoga/meditation really helps you be conscious of your choices. But... stress makes me just not care and I gain weight when I'm really stressed if I'm not careful
