1st fitting disaster! (long)
I'm totally freaked out! I went for my 1st fitting today with my shoes, my bra, stockings, slip, veilcamera & everything. My dress was supposed to be in 4 weeks ago so I'm really dying to see it!
The bridal salon girl puts the dress on me, starts to zip it & the zipper isn't working. She leaves me standing there with no explaination to get the manager. The manager comes in & says 'do you want a whole new dress or just the zipper?' I'm totally confused because I can't see the zipper & I have no idea what happened. before I even have a chance to respond she says 'no, its Eve of Milady-I'll never be able to get a new dress in time we'll just get a new zipper'
My zipper started opening after it was zipped & can't be fixed! So now I paid a small fortune for a brand new designer dress & it needs a replacement zipper!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I might have freaked a little, she says that she'll have the new zipper Tuesday morning & I can come Tuesday @ 2 for my first fitting. They basically pulled the dress right off me, I don't even know if it looked good. I'm so disapointed!!!!
I'm not even sure if I want that dress now-is it a bad omen? I'm flipping!

Not a bad omen - just a bad day. It stinks, but S&^t happens. It doesn't sound like the dress place treated you so great though. I am sure they will fix it and it will be beautiful - but go for the discount now - can't hurt to ask! What place is it by the way? And let's ee the dress! Relax - Tuesday will be fab - keep us posted!

Re: 1st fitting disaster! (long)
First of all, take a deep breath and calm down. Of course you want this dress - it's the ONE that you've been dreaming of since you ordered it.
It's not a bad omen that the zipper broke. Be thankful that it's something that can be replaced or fixed! I would only consider it a bad omen if it happened on the day of your wedding. But, since they are fixing it now, you have nothing to worry about!

Re: 1st fitting disaster! (long)
I see it, and its BEAUTIFUL!!!! Dont worry, I know this is your wedding dress, but you flipping out will not makes things any better. Luckily it was just the zipper, and that it happened now, and not the morning of your wedding day. Once it is all altered, you will make a beautiful bride, and look better than the model

Re: 1st fitting disaster! (long)
It sounds like you had quite a nerve wracking fitting, but like the other girls said...it's just the zipper. It's hard to do, but realize it could've been much worse. Take a deep breath, and wait til Tuesday. I'm sure the dress will be perfect.Please-try again to post a picture!!

That dress is beautiful! Don't take it as a bad omen at all. Just take a breath and see what happens when you go back. Also, make sure that they do not charge you extra for the zipper or the extra alterations to fix the zipper!

Re: 1st fitting disaster! (long)
Thanks ladies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My veil is similar, but I'm using a headband style-I had it with me to try it on, but I didn't get a chance
Anyway I'll try it on Tuesday, the manager said since I only seem to need hem work they'd have the whole dress ready by Friday-I really expect a discount of some sort though. I'm going to call Tuesday morning & tell them that I want the old zipper & a phone # for Eve of Milady. I expect them to do something for me. It is unexceptable for a designer gown to have a crappy zipper. I'm going to be so paraniod on my day worrying about my friggin zipper.
Thanks for all of your kind words!

Re: 1st fitting disaster! (long)
RichsBride,I'm sure everything will work out with your dress. Please let us know what happens. I am also using Bridal Suite in Bayshore and have been having some problems with them (they never ordered my dress when I went there in May and waited almost 4 months to call me, etc). I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Re: 1st fitting disaster! (long)
Try and look at it in a positive light. At least the crappy zipper broke now when there is still time to replace it. I'm sure everything will be fine.
