Re: 1st post-stolen from nws

Here's mine! I was going to try to plan a wedding in 8 months!!!!!

New Here and need advice

Hi Everyone,

I just recently got engaged (12/20/08) and am in the very beginning stages of planning. Quick overview, FH and I have been together 9 years already, so we DO NOT need a long engagement (note the date on my signature is an estimate).

Here's my dilemma. We're having our engagement party on February 15. I have meetings set up this week to look at a few places, but my top two favorites are still available for 2009. One has an opening on August 29, the other has an opening on Sept. 19.

Assuming my church is available and I love the two places, do you think it's feasible to get this all done by then? Also, do you think it's a lot to ask of my guests to plan for the wedding so soon?

Thanks!

ETA: This was on January 13, 2009!

Mine was about babysitting services at the reception.... I don't think I ever officially introduced myself to everyone!!! LOL!!! A little late now I guess

' I was just wondering if anyone offered babysitting services at their wedding for guests who had to bring their children? We know we're going to have 5-10 children coming at most and didn't want the parents to feel like they had to have their kids attached at the hip the entire time. The RH we picked has a great room off of the bridal suite that would be perfect for this... '

my first post was on the 2010 board. it was about finding a teaching job. i didn't introduce myself at first, i just started answering questions

I really wish I could help you, but I'm at the elementary level. I know the exact situation you are in. I was a sub for 2 years and then I finally got a job - in the Bronx. yea, it wasn't the best situation driving from LI to the Bronx everyday. I just got a job on LI on Friday. So it's still possible that you could get a call. One of my friends actually got hired the 2nd day of school a few years ago. good luck! I know it's not easy.

my first post...

Soooo seeing as I have never planned any sort of Wedding before, I'm a little confused about what types of questions to ask reception halls when me and FH visit them. We're both in our early 20's, so I don't want us to seem 'naive' in addition to 'young.' I have some q's that I've thought of, but I wanted to ask you all what you thought are important q's to ask the potential reception hall.

Also, does anyone know what a typical deposit for a reception hall is? Is it a silly q to ask the reception hall if they accept credit cards or checks instead of just cash for such a thing?

In addition, how does the whole food tasting process work? When we're calling to book an appointment to look at the room, do we ask if we can sample the food when we're in? We want to make sure that the food is very good before we book a place, but we're not really sure when we're supposed to be asking to sample things.

Any other advice on this topic would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

you think i could've started with a brief intro or something...dayummmm
