Did anyone do this or anyone go to a wedding where 1 tier was one flavor and a 2nd tier was another flavor? FH and I can't agree on the cake, so this was an option, but I don't know if it is the best thing to do. TIA

I want to do this, Carrot cake for top ( my FAVORITE!) and a regular choco or vanilla or plain soemthing for all the other boring people

I don't think it was in each layer but it was 2 different flavor fillings in each piece. We did a white cake with strawberry and canoli filling. It's probably a lot extra if you are talking about doing a white cake and then a chocolate cake but for the fillings, I think it might be standard.

i wanted to do this but the RH told us that guests would get a random slice (they can't choose which tier / flavor they get) and we didn't like that.
We ended up doing all one flavor except the topmost tier (which we take home for our anniversary)

He wants red velvet with cream cheese filling (I hate cream cheese, cheese cake, etc... yes i am weird, sorry lol)
I wanted vanilla cake with white chocolate mousse filling.
Our RH said our guests would get random slices and wouldn't be able to pick which one they want.
We are also having a Viennese table.. I don't know what to do..

yeah we felt the same way about this so we went with one flavor for the whole cake.

Our bakery recommended against it because they said since people don't get to choose, they might start asking waitstaff to bring a different piece (which would get really annoying!)
FH and I decided to go with what we thought most of our guests would like rather than what we personally love. We probably will only eat the one little bite when we cut the cake anyway! Plus, he doesn't know this, but I am getting him a groom's cake with the cake/filling he really wanted!

As cool as it sounds to have alternating flavors, for weddings I think it is best to just have one flavor. Especially you are having vienesse hour, there will be so many other cake flavors/desserts to choose from.

I am doing 2 flavors, we each chose a flavor and if people don't like what they get then they can trade. And if they don't like either I don't care We are getting vanilla cake with cannoli filling on 2 layers and chocolate cake with peanut butter mousse for the other 2 layers.

We are doing 2 different flavors, 4 layers in total. We did banana cake with banana moose and fudge (OMG it is so F-ing GOOD!!) and the other is black forest also tatsted amazing!

this is pretty much what I want to do! I mean most guests are there will someone who I'm sure would share their piece if they wanted.

Not all RHs will allow you to do 2 different flavors b/c they don't want to deal with guests wanting to pick.

my sister did different flavors in different tiers and the cannoli with chocolate chips was much more popular and my dad got so mad bc there was only fruit pieces left by the time he got to the table.... we are having a layer of chocolate mouse and a layer of cannoli with chocolate chips in each piece of cake for no extra charge

We're having two different flavors in each layer (each slice will have pineapple cake, raspberry buttercream and amaretto cake)
then we don't have to worry about different ppl getting different flavors

we are doing the bottom and top tier yellow cake with lemon and lemon creme filling and the middle 2 tiers will be red velvet with chocolate and raspberry mousse.
