I heard that this morning too! I can't believe we are almost at that point! Where did the 'beautiful' weather go!!!!

Beats me. Doesn't it always seem like we go right from summer straight to winter? I wasn't prepared for this weather this morning!

Snow in Buffalo??? I only heard it dumped on Chicago!!!!!!!!! I want to go home and go sledding - that would be so much fun right now!!!!!!!!

I'm always ready for snow!!!!!!!! I grew up in Buffalo/Rochester - I'm used to 9 months of winter and 3 months of summer! It's great! At Halloween, we used to put out winter coat, mittens and hats on, and then our costumes and the neighbors would hand out hot chocolate to the fathers going around with us while us kids ran around getting candy.....ah, the good old days!

I am STUCK in Buffalo, was supposed to fly home last night but my flight was cancelled and the airport was closed.

DID NOT pack for 2 feet of snow! I don't have a coat with me, just a light sweater! Take me home!!!!!!!!! :

And all I can do is sit here and laugh!!!

Nope, flying US Air... my all time LEAST favorite airline... AND my flight this morning was just CANCELLED!!!

Nope, flying US Air... my all time LEAST favorite airline... AND my flight this morning was just CANCELLED!!!

At this point - I'd say f'uck it and go rent an SUV/all wheel drive car and get on the Thruway just 2 miles away and take that towards Batavia and try flying out of Rochester Airport - usually if Buffalo is socked, Rochester doesn't get nearly as badly hit and you could fly Jet Blue home from there.

The NY State Thruway has this listed:
'THRUWAY CLOSED 46 TO 59 EAST & WEST

DUE TO SNOW CONDITIONS THRUWAY IS CLOSED BETWEEN EXITS 46 AND 59

WOW, that's closed to Interstate 390 in Rochester - where you get off for the Rochester Airport! I just went to the Rochester Airport web site - no delays, semi cloudy.

I am originally from where the Thruway is closed to at exit 46. I don't miss that at all!!!! My dad is all angry it came so quick this year.

Betsy, I went in the total opposite direction from you..growing up in Rochester made me HATE the snow and cold more than anything. Whenever people feel the need to say I 'must be used to it', I tell them I had my fair share growing up and am sick of it

People usually grow to love it or hate it up there - there's no in between! I absolutely love the cold weather - no heat, no allergies, and I can put lots of sweaters on, brew some hot chocolate with marshmallows after shoveling the driveway (or snow blowing it), and curling up in front of the fireplace next to DH, which we do every holiday when we go upstate.

Yep, growing up in Rochester made me hate it. Going to school in Oswego, the lake effect snow capital, made me LOATHE it.
