Has anyone thought about having 2 first dance songs? I have 2 songs I love but they are completely different. The first one is slow and an oldie but the second is a fast paced dance song. I just think it would be kind of cool to have 2 and the second one we would invite everyone out to dance with us.

Maybe the second one you can play after dinner to start just the two of you dancing and have everyone join you on the dance floor??

Either that, or see if your DJ can combine them in some way to make it a little shorter. I was reading an article that said to try and keep any dances under 4 minutes or people start to lose interest. Same goes with people having way too many things included in a ceremony (ex: sand ceremony, candle lighting, hand binding all in one ceremony)

2 first dance songs?
My sister did this for her wedding and it was great b/c her husband and her REALLY wanted to use both songs. They also had everyone join them on the dance floor for the second song.

We are having a traditional slow first dance, BUT it's a Marc Anthony balad and he also has a salsa version that we will be dancing to later in the night!!

I want to do this... our first song will be American and the second one (probably after dinner) will be Italian.

Our DJ actually said that couples have requested him for 2 first dance songs. You can ask your DJ if he can edit both songs so that your total dance is 4 minutes or less though, so that you avoid people losing interest

crashing - Yes.. we are doing 2 first songs.. our DJ suggested it since everyone only comes up for the last minute of the song instead of having everyone sit right back down, we are going into a second special song..

I was just talking about this last night! There are two songs I want, I'm just trying to figure out how to do it! I like the after dinner idea!

Doing one of the dances after dinner sounds like a great idea! My FH hates being the center of attention and doesn't usually dance (even at weddings), so I'll be lucky to get him to dance to one song, LOL. We're actually considering having our guests join in halfway through our first dance so he doesn't have to be in the spotlight for the whole 4 minutes LOL.

Which Marc Anthony song? We're reconsidering our initial idea for our first song and we were considering dancing to 'Tu Amor Me Hace Bien' because the words to that song are so beautiful and heart felt and since we both dance salsa on 2 FH really wants to incorporate that into our first dance. I also like his song 'I Need You'. We're still toying around with the idea though. We'll see.

Do what you want. It is your wedding and you don't want any regrets.
The day goes by so quickly and you can't always take your guests into consideration. You need to put yourself first sometimes. We only had 1 song but then we did father/daughter dance, mother/son dance and my husband also danced with his sister. I am sure that some people got a little bored but it meant a lot to my husband and his sister. Definitely would not have changed this, it was perfect the way it was. We did request that the songs were shortened but this was our decision since we aren't dancers.
