I met with the church yesterday& they told me if I want any flowers in the church I have to use their local florist , b/c he has a key to set up early & he knows what can go where ,etc. That's fine by me, but my hall also has its own florist & the centerpieces ar eincluded in my package, so I was just going to use them for everything else. Is it weird to have 2 florsits? It might be more $ that way- we haven't priced them yet. One option is to use the church florist for everything & not use the included cps. They are jsut 1/2 dozen roses in bubble vases, which I was ging to upgrade if I used the Milleridge florist.
So, I don't jsut want to leave them as is & use the church florist for everything else, b/c I wanted differnt Cps. Does this make any sense? The other option is to not use flowers in the church, but I like flowers.
any suggestions?

Re: 2 florists?
JMO flowers in the church are a waste you only see them for the ceremony and then you leave them there so you are basically giving the church decorations that they will keep.

Re: 2 florists?
i used 2 florists for my wedding and it was fine. my mil offerred to pay for the cp's but only from her florist friend who i didnt want to do the bouquets. i just told both of the florists exactly what i wanted and they were able to match each other very well. good luck!

Re: 2 florists?
I will probably end up using 2 florists, one for the bridal party flowers and one for the ceremony/reception. Since I'm in Queens I will probbaly use a local vendor near me that my brother used as well. I want to be certain our flowers arrive on time, and if there is a problem, since they are close by it can be easily resolved.

Re: 2 florists?
Thanks. I know some people think flowers in the church are a waste, but i went to one that didn't have any & it jsut seem like the church wasn't ready for a wedding. and when my FH suggested we skip it, my mother looked pained.
I guess I'll call both & see what the rates would be & see which one I'll have do the bouquets.

I think 2 florists are perfectly fine.
eta - i just re-read your post, and i think the church is a tad bit pushy with the demands, but crunch the numbers and that should make your decision easier.

i have never heard of this? why do you have to use the church's recommended florist? wonder if they get discounts by referring brides.

That's why I have to use him. I don't think its a money deal like with reception halls. I have heard of this before, some people have to get their flowers through an alter guild.
ETA MCDO15- is that why you have diffent flowers at from the church?
The priest wasn't pushy at all when she mentioned it. She's new, and she was jsut passing along the rules. She even said , if you want flowers for yourself & your bridesmaid & butenires,m you can brinbg them in from where evern you wnat, but if you wodl liek to decorate the church, the only thing I ask is that you use Peter Kenney because. . .', and she gave me his card.'
I actually know of this florist, and know he's good, so maybe I will have him do the bouquets & see how much it is to have the milleridge just upgrade the centerpeices.

Re: 2 florists?
HOnestly - that would be a deal breaker for me. I refuse to use a florist that 'comes with' the hall or church. There is no incentive to do a good job because they have a cushy agreement with these places. They also don't have to give you a good price because there are no competitive bids. I'm sure there are some exceptions but as a rule - I would not go along with this.
Tell the church - you 'have' to use another florist and see what they say.
I gave up on my church - they were driving me crazy. Getting married at reception venue because the church made my life too stressful

Re: 2 florists?
i just edited above, so you probably didn't see it when you posted, but I know peope ewho have used this florist, so I am not wory that he will not to a good job. And if his prices arn't competitive for for bouquets & stuff, I won't use him for that. The only thing I HAVE to use him for is the church, or else I can just not decorate the church.
I really like this church & this priest ( i just switched) so I am not going to try & haggle with them ove this.
I was just wondering if anyoen else had encountered a similar situation & if splitign the flowers bewteen 2 florists would run into more money than if I was able to do it all at 1 place.
