2 Qs about ordering BM dresses (with a poll)

Q 1: How late can you order your BM dresses without incurring a late charge?

Q 2: How late can you add an extra dress while still getting it to be cut from the same dye lot?

Backstory: Thank you to those of you who responded to my earlier posts about possibly adding a bridesmaid. I asked her last night and she said yes!!! However, the only potential problem is she needs to order her dress ASAP! Ideally I'd love for her to get her dress from the same dye lot as our other BM dresses, but I don't know if that's possible at this point. My girls ordered their dresses in Sept or Oct, which is way early, but I don't know if they were cut already. More of a priority is that my friend not get charged a rush fee -- Lillette's had told me 2 days ago that as of right now there won't be a rush fee, but my friend might not be able to get measured for another 2 weeks. (She's travelling all over the country for med school interviews and has a few each week in different cities).

It's POSSIBLE that I might be able to take her somewhere out here to get measured Fri/Sat (instead of her waiting to get measured back home) -- I don't really know where we would go or how much of an inconvenience it would be since she's busy with interview stuff most of the weekend, but it might be an option if absolutely necessary.

I plan to call Lillette's back later today when I finish with classes but I'd like to know what's reasonable before I do.... (how late you can usually order BM dresses w/out a late charge and whether it's even possible to get it from the same dye lot when a dress is ordered this late -- are they usually cut by now?)

thanks in advance

(She's probably going to need to mail in a check and call in her measurements, should she mail the check now to allow it time to get there even if she doesnt get measured yet?)

all i know is they charge my fsil extra because she ordered the dress 2 months before the wedding. I think it is safe if it is 4 months or longer. For dye lots i have no clue.

Get her down to your bridal salon and have one of the girls call the designer with you there. I use paradise bridals and they have done that for me many a time. Danielle there is awesome (if u are using that salon)

I would just call the salon now and get your answers straight from the designer - dont wait!

I will call after 1pm when I get out of class... my friend is at an interview as I speak so any sooner wont really do anything.

We're using Lillette's but it's a little more complicated because I'm 1000 miles away right now for law school and my friend is from CT but is out here with me for the weekend. We can't just drop by. Can I call the designer myself? I don't think Lillette's is open till 10am and by that time I'll be in class

We still have more than 6 months till the wedding so I'd think that would be plenty of time for her dress to be ordered w/out a late charge but I don't want them to just tack it on when they shouldnt...

You have plenty of time. No need for a rush order yet. Rush orders are for like, ordering 8 weeks or less before the date I think. No need to worry. Also, don't worry so much about dye lot. People make a bigger deal about it than it really is.

if it's possible I'd try to get her in the same dye lot, but if not I'm OK having them differ a little. I care more about avoiding late charges.

Why cant she take her own measurements and call the salon so they can order the dress? Thats what one of my girls is doing in Virginia.

Then seriously, you're nowhere near the late fee charge timeframe. Your wedding isn't until August, you have plenty of time! Most BM dresses take around 12 weeks, mine came in 8. If it takes alot longer than that than the shop is holding off on ordering them because they don't want to have them sitting around until you pick them up.

I wouldn't worry about the dye lots I ordered a BM dress like a month after we placed the other order and the dresses look exactly the same and they only came in like 2 weeks apart

thanks everyone! Lillette's had told me on tuesday that i could add another dress without a late charge but they said i'd have to order it right away... maybe they just dont want me to wait too long?

i'll call today and see if it's ok for my friend to get measured in 2 weeks... i'd do it myself but i want to make sure her measurements are right to avoid any future problems. i didn't know if it was worth trying to push for it to be ordered in the same dye lot or if that's even possible at this point.

i hope the colors arent too different but even if they are, you girls should be really proud that i (the anal and neurotic who wants everything to match perfectly) added my friend even knowing that our even BP would no longer be even, and even knowing that her dress prob wouldnt be from the same dye lot.
