My mom suggested getting 2 veils. A cathedral for the ceremony & a blusher for the reception. Is this an old school thing or Am I out of the loop. I thought you just get one and take it off for the reception. HELP!!

I don't know if it is old school or not. I plan on wearing a veil for the ceremony only. I read somewhere that 'the veil tradition originated in an effort to fend off evil spirits for the bride before the wedding. It is thought that evil spirits will see the veil and not be able to get to the person inside, preserving the bride for the husband.' I think that once the ceremony is over, you are protected from evil - LOL. Then again, I just noticed that the words 'EVIL' and 'VEIL' have the same letters in them - coincidence? Hmmmm.
I also don't want to cover my face. The veil will be removed for the cocktail hour and reception. I just remember seeing old home movies of my aunt's wedding where her veil caught fire from a candle. I don't think that would happen to me but Id go nuts with something hanging from my head all night - just not my style.

I wore a fingertip veil with a 2 layer blusher. I took the blusher off when the ceremony was over.

Sounds reasonable...my friendd did the same thing for her wedding, she got married in May. I know alot of brides who do this.

me four and you can have both viels on one comb they can velcro it to be removed after the ceremony

all I'll say is that veil is coming off after pictures and ceremony! Haven't decided what kind of veil yet though.

I am having a cathedral length and elbow length for the ceremony (elbow will act as blusher) and I am just wearing the elbow for the reception.
