2 weddings at the Venetian YC - Possible?? HELP!

2 weddings at the Venetian YC - Possible?? HELP!

Okay so kinda frustrated ( I know...how surprising? lol) I just got engaged on 12/25 (yay!) and I'm trying to pick my RH.

I really love the VYC (venetian yacht club) but my concern now --> they allow two weddings at once. I have never been to a wedding when another one was going on, and honeslty...can't imagine it. Does anyone know someone who has had a wedding at a venue with another wedding going on, been to one with 2 weddings taking place...etc..

I would hate to not have it at the VYC because someone else is there as well.....HOWEVER I just think it would run more smoothly if their undividied attention (kitchen staff, etc) was directed towards you seeing as how much your paying for your venue. Wouldn't you hear the other DJ, have to time all your pictures/ceremony???

Apparently the VYC will allow you to have the whole palce if you have a large party. The nicer room is also only given to those with larger parties too---nonsense haha. Right now I only anticipate 150 people and coming up with another 150 just to have the whole place - well thats just outrageous...

Help...whats it like to have 2 weddings at the same place ???? Should I find another venue while I still have time??

Thanks!
Michele

every wedding i've been to so far has been when another wedding was going on...

it was fine, and as a guest i couldn't have cared less.

there is another wedding at the same time as mine at my venue... and our rooms are right next to eachother.
in fact her reception room, is my cocktail hour room...

oh well...

it'll be fabulous. i love my venue and couldn't imagine having it anywhere else (except maybe at a castle somewhere lol)

I personally would hate to cross paths with another bride at my own reception, like a bathroom run-in or something. Plus have the guests crossing paths and the whole thing would seem like such a factory to me. We pay big money for weddings, I want me and my hubby to feel like the most special couple in the world, not like just another dime-a-dozen bride/groom.

So it's a big no-no for me, I would look elsewhere. But that's just me, you have to decide how you would feel, forget your guests and everyone else except you and your future husband. Talk to him about it.

I'm also getting married at VYC and have this same concern. But with the way things are staggered, I'm hoping not to have any idea about the other party going on. I'm in the downstairs room and would start later than the party upstairs. Upstairs has it's own bathroom so I really don't anticipate people running into each other that much. My room will be getting set up while my cocktail hour is going on. I'm confident everything will be fine, that's what these places do!

That is a matter of personal preference. I loved VYC as well, but I wasn't crazy about two weddings going on either. There are a few places on the water that do one at a time, check out Thatched Cottage, Lands End, Harbor Club. You have to weigh your options, there will always be one thing about one place that you love that you don't like, you just have to look at a lot of places and see which has the most plusses. If you really love VYC, talk to them about how things are staggered. HTH.

I had my engagement party at VYC and there was another party going on. Everything went just fine. I didnt even notice there was another party and neither did my guests. For my wedding there will be another wedding going on as well but the times are staggered so when my guests are arriving for cocktail hour the other party will be in the reception already. Most places stagger them. You should ask VYC what their timelines are for days when more than one wedding is going on.

I am having my reception at the VYC and to avoid having the dilemia of two weddings at once I opted for a day wedding, which the reception is from 1-6 on Saturday. The view is so spectacular that I wanted to be able to see it during the sunset, and since I am getting married in the fall it just seemed to work out. From my meeting with Bill he said that Saturdays during the day they only have one wedding at a time, but the evenings they will book two. So sometimes if you are flexible with the time of the reception you can get to have just your wedding at the hall.

for my wedding, i was told that it was only going to be my event, but i guess at the last minute they booked a bar mitzvah and i didn't even notice another party was going on until i went down to take pictures. it definitely is nice being able to have the whole place to yourselves, but if you are dead set on having your wedding there, i think it'll be fine. i know that it's a concern because the vyc isn't huge or anything, but since they do it all the time, i think it'll be ok.

A little note about the Thatched Cottage: they have only 1 wedding at a time, but they do book more than 1 affair at a time. But it is a lovely place.

yea don't let a place saying one wedding a time fool you - we all most booked another place because of that because it was only $5 more a head then where we booked and that is when i did research and found out they can book any party or event other then a wedding at the same time and its all fine and dandy.

honestly to me the place itself and the food and rep is more important then if its a one wedding at a time thing. CLM staggers them so there is a few hours where you can have your guests bump into each other outside if going for a smoke or some air but is that really that big of a deal? If it is then you have to find a place that says ONE EVENT at a time.

As you know I am also booked at the VYC - my wedding going on simply b/c I have a ton of people over 300 but I have been to ton of weddings where there has been more than one wedidng going on and its never once been a problem. Do not worry!

i understand u'r concern.. but i think it's not that big of a deal.. if u like the hall go with it..

i've gone to weddings at one event places, and had ablast.. gone to weddings at two event places.. and had a blast.. (once met a guy at a two event hall.. we dated for quiet awhile..lol)

address u'r concerns with the hall..

do u stagger u'r events.. how much time? (one hall i went to only staggerd half an hour.. that wasn't enough time for me)

how many waiters do you have on staff? how many will i have at my wedding (industry standards 1 per table)

if the rooms share a wall, are the walls sound proof? (i've gone to an event at a catering hall-if u could call it that, and yes you could hear the next room the entire evening.. what made it worse was the event i was attending wasn't a wedding, it was a social dinner.. so we couldn't hear any of the speeches.. grr)

if you love the place, go with it.. u'll be more upset at a one function place that u don't like than a two function place that u love!

congrats!

OH big question to ask are the bathrooms near your hall and if so is there a different set of bathrooms for the other event (if your worried about running into another bride in the hallway)

AND More importantly - is the bridal suite your own and if so is it no where near the other bride.

I can understand if you two were on top of each other that would suck but as in CLM different floors for the bathrooms and/or bridal suite.

I feel your fustration and I just had this thing about paying 100 and change per plate than I should be the only bride. They were my top choice and there was no room to neg. price with them so I decided to go elsewhere I got more for my money and was the only bride. I guess it is your perference also. Although I was considering changing my date to have wedding at vYC

A lot of RH's have more than one wedding at a time, the Fox Hollow has 2 at a time, but the stagger the times, and you're also a different ends of the building. The issue I ran into was the ones that only had one wedding at a time was more expensive. IMO

Thats how I feel too! That was a very important part for me. That why I went with Majestic Gardens because it was only one wedding at a time, and all staff was focused on my wedding, bt again like you said it is a personal choice. I did go to a wedding before that was going on at the same time and everything went smoothly, you should discuss any concerns over with you FH and your reception hall.
