Hey girls, Im not sure when I should start booking vendors, I have a little under 2 years and feel like I have plenty of time but I see some girls on here getting married in 2012 who are booking their florists and stuff etc... One of my best friends also has had a 2 year engagement (and is getting married july of next year) and she said she went to vendors the other day and majority of them didnt have her date and were all booked up!!! Im nervous!!!!!!! What do you all think?????!?!?

I learned that its really never too early. Start looking and doing ur research. Negotiating and comparing. It can't hurt! Plus if u find something u like and book it, ur ahead of the game and not rushing or feeling pressured because u have the time.

I couldn't agree with this more. We had a year and 9 months and I thought I started early. I quickly realized how many people were already booked for my wedding date.
My advise, book the things you really want (in my case I wanted a really good photographer) as soon as possible that way you know you are guaranteed that vendor. For the stuff you aren't as picky about, don't worry about it yet.

let's see, I was engaged July of Last year and I'm getting married October of next year. I booked my hall by September of last year (over 2 years from wedding). I booked my photographer by November I think, so about 2 years before wedding.
I say book your big vendors as soon as you get around to looking, halls and photographers book the fastest i feel.
Go ahead and start looking!

I'd say book the vendors that are really important to you. I booked our photog first because that was important to me. We booked our florist last because we weren't too concerned with flowers. I took my time with everything. The first two months we were engaged (We got engaged Thanksgiving 08), we decided to relax and not start planning yet. When we did start every single vendor was available on our date and only one RH we visited was booked. So basically.... use your judgement.

you have time, and can take your time with booking vendors. but i agree, its definitly never to early to book, especially if you know specific vendors you want. but you can certainly do your research now for vendors you are interested in, so when you are ready to book, you are organized.

I had 2 yrs exactly and EVERY single category had at least 2 booked vendors!! START NOW : )

Book early when you are able to get vendors at 2010 prices!!!! Many times vendors will offer deals for booking early too!!! Booking early helped us a great deal, as we were able to break up payments and make it more affordable for us!!!!

I totally agree. I booked almost everything before june of 09 for my jan 11 wedding. I wanted to get 09 pricing
