2013 Brides HELP!!! photos

I'm having my ceremony and reception at The Watermill. I'm unsure if I should do photos prior to the ceremony or during cocktail hour. I've heard the cocktail hour there is amazing and my FH and I really would like to enjoy it as well as my bridal party but I'm afraid that doing pics before will take away from him seeing me walk down the aisle. We aren't doing many things in the 'traditional' way but I've dreamt of him seeing me for the 1st time as I walk down the aisle. I need opinions. Please help

i felt the same way, i am in the same position. we decided we are doing photos before the ceremony to get most of it over with. there are so many shots they take you that its possible to go longer then cocktail hour. I want to enjoy our day. also helping me with it is we can have a personal moment for our first 'meeting'. Its really however you feel most comfortable.

Thats something I've been wondering about, if there will be a moment where it can be just the two of us to make it more special . Thanks I appreciate your post. :]

I am also getting married at the Watermill. We are getting married in the Chapel Room- GORGEOUS!!!

We are doing the first reveal before the ceremony. I promise--- they will set this up to be an amazing moment!! Your videographer and photographer will capture the moment- and it wll be just as special as if you were walking down the aisle!! Most brides are doing it this way-- even if they get married at a church!

Dont miss this cocktail hour!! Its the best part!

I was just in a wedding in Sept at the Watermill. She got married at a church and then we went to the Watermill and took pictures there as well. The attendants at the Watermill kept bringing us trays and trays and trays of food from the CH since we were all taking pictures. Everytime we ran out of something they came with more food. I wouldnt be too worried about missing your CH. They were def amazing in that respect!

I felt the exact same way as you. We are also having our ceremony at the RH and after giving it great thought it makes more sense to take pix b4 hand and not feel rushed to take them in an hour. It just wouldnt be enough time. Plus, when u think about it.. you wont really have a full hour.. by the time u make your way out of the ceremony bcuz ppl willnwant to greet u. Plus u have to get ready to make your entrace into the reception. We also dont want to miss our CH! We're paying for it so we want to enjoy it and use that time to greet our guests so once we move into the reception we can party! Another reason we are taking pix b4 is the time of year we are getting married.. our ceremony is 7pm and the sun sets earlier than that so if we waited we'd have no pix in the sun light.

So def many things to consider. If u do decide to do a 1st view before the ceremony, u can always keep it btwn just u and your FH so u can share that special moment together. Another bride I saw walked 1/2 way to her FH while his back was turned then she stopped and he turned around. She then walked the rest of the way to him as if she was walking down tbe aisle! I think I may do that so I can still get the feeljng of walking down the aisle to him.

I don't want to miss our CH either - whether it's amazing or not, I'd rather see everyone and let our BP relax. But we definitely don't want a first look. I'm relying on moving things quickly - I've been in some weddings where people have huge families (neither of us do) and/or they don't care about CH (and we do) so I think there are factors that drag the pics out longer. This summer my cousin got married and I was a BM - the pics at the church post-wedding took 15 minutes, and at the restaurant took maybe another 15, so I feel confident that as long as I explain what we want to our photog, we can enjoy ourselves.

I'm also getting married in the chapel!! My reception is in the Astor suite. I'm glad to hear that you are doing it that way and that it's more common now. I'm so excited! Thank you

I was told that as well but I'm afraid that We won't get the full effect by seeing it all done up and being able to mingle with my guests. I wanna be able to enjoy my reception without having to do all my hellos. Thanks

Re: 2013 Brides HELP!!! photos

it's totally up to how important this is to YOU personally. FH and I are getting married at the hall and doing pictures AFTER ceremony was not negotiable for me. Some photographers tried to persuade me to do it before to save time and all that jazz.
My brother got married yesterday and they did the pix first at a park. When she was back in limo, she said seeing each other wasn't really such a big deal, they were both like 'Hey!' But I know for me, the whole moment- of walking down the aisle on my dad's arm, with everyone there, hearing that music-builds that anticipation and makes that moment of him first seeing me just so awesome. Personally, I know I'd lose that feeling if we did the 'big reveal' first. JMO. But stick to what you feel, don't worry about CH and time. You make it work if that is important to u

We are doing alot of shots before ceremony--just not with each other! Our CH is an hour and a half, and we don't want a lot of the extra pix (like the guys picking me up/girls pulling at his jacket or the jump in the air stuff. there's really no reason why we won't be done in 45 minutes if we are organized. Then we will still greet everyone at CH and have reception to ourselves
My photographer also suggested that she takes 5-10 minutes during a cold appetizer for a few more shots of us in hall to make sure we get some good ones.
