Hi 2012ers! I was wondering if anyone can give advice..i have narrowed down by Dj company and now we are just deciding between a DJ or a DJ/MC ..we are having about 120 (inviting 150) and its in the afternoon...we dont want a clubby vibe or any of the line dances..just someone to do annoucnements and get people up if they arent..do you think i need the MC?? what did you do?

I did not want a club vibe at all but the MC moves about the room when making introductions and announcements. When i hired my DJ i actually didn't realize he was going to be the MC and he had someone else for a DJ. It worked great. Didn't think i wanted the MC but i was happy with him.

I think a lot of DJ companies will ask you what type of MC you want. I know mine had a section for it on our contract - we did not want 'high energy' rather we wanted 'party vibe'. So our MC made announcements for us and got people on the dance floor. I think it worked out well.

If you have a really good MC, they will get the crowd going. As far as music, I gave my DJ instructions that I did not want any line dancing music and a few do not play songs.

This. Our MC spoke when needed but it couldn't have been much because I do not recall it at all.

our mc was fantastic - he worked flawlessly with the maitre d' to keep the event flowing smoothly. im not too sure i would trust a dj to do both. i highly recommend an mc - its worth it in my opinion.

We went with a DJ/MC - father/son. The DJ was one of my favorite parts of our wedding. I'm so glad I went with the MC also.. you can tell them exactly what you want, don't be shy about it. ie: not too much talking, announcing, etc...
