2014 Brides.. Help!!! Taking pictures Pre-Ceremony vs. during Cocktail hr

Hi everyone! 2015 bride crashing!

So I met with my photographer last week and we were going over our options for this and that, when a certain issue came up. I told her that I wanted to see my FH for the first time when he's standing there waiting for me to enter at the start of the ceremony. For just like Jane (Katherine Heigl) in my fav. movie 27 dresses, 'My favorite part of a wedding is when the bride is walking down the aisle. I like to look back at the groom and to see the love he has on his face for her... And I can't wait for a guy to look like that at me.'

Is that too much to ask? I mean I suppose it is because after we were discussing when we would take our wedding pictures, she was basically saying that it's definitely okay if I want to keep it that way - it's just that 'if everyone in your family & wedding party is taking pictures during the cocktail hr... who will be greeting your guests when they come in?' Then another issue is that we probably wouldn't get much time to take good pictures in of just me and my FH alone as well as with the wedding party. She said if we did a 'First Look', where I see him before the ceremony, then we could take pictures with everyone before the ceremony and take pictures of just us then be able to enjoy the cocktail hr with the guests and if need be, leave for a few min to take more pictures together.

I really just don't know what to do! I've always wanted and envisioned myself walking down the aisle and seeing my FH standing there - seeing him for the first time with that loving look on his face, and having everyone else share that moment with us. After talking to my photographer though, it seems like doing that would make it a worse situation for picture taking! Ugh! What have you all decided to do or thought of doing? Anyone dealing with this and figured out a solution? I posted this in the 2015 forum but was also hoping you ladies could help me out since some of you have gotten married already. For those of you who did the First Look before the ceremony, did it water down or diminish the moment when you both saw each other while you were walking down the aisle during the ceremony? Please help me out. I would really appreciate it!

Are you getting married at the hall? If not you can probably fit the pictures in before CH. If you are then people will still be there to greet guests. They'll do bridal party and family before you guys so they'll go back in to mingle after that.

Yeah we'd be getting married at the hall. That's a good reminder that the rest of the bridal party can head back once their done taking pics with us. But it's not like we have a limo or anything so idk how that would work. But definitely gives me something to think about. The one hour worries me though since it could take from 5-15 min to go wherever we're going provided there's no traffic or anything crazy. So altogether traveling there and back could slice from 10 min to a half hr. Ughhh

You can't take pictures outside the hall?

Yes we can. That's what we plan on doing. But it has to be very close. I'm not sure where in Farmingdale is good to take pictures. When I looked it up in google nothing too appealing came up.

I understand that's what you want and if you have your heart set on that go for it but just realize you probably will miss your cocktail hour. And that is a personal thing.....I was adamant about not missing cocktail hour but some others don't mind missing it.

I think she means like at the actual hall. On the grounds. Where are you getting married? There should be a few photo ops on premises. I definitely don't think you'd have time to get everyone together, leave, take pics somewhere else, then get back all in an hour. It'll put WAY too much stress on you and everyone else and you should be enjoying it. If you have opportunities to take pics at the hall, then that's a different story and people do it all the time and it can be done, no stress required.

We are doing the reveal because of the time of year and the day lighting provides for better pictures. I do like the look on the groom's face but you have to consider which is the best for you two.
