If you know exactly what you want, then the sooner, the better! Many vendors probably aren't booking yet for 2015. Still, it doesn't hurt to go to showcases and make appointments to see what you like. Then when it comes to time to book things, you can get it all done and probably have first crack at your choice of date!

I was engaged 3 years before my wedding date and I didnt start planning until the 2 year mark. Not to say I wasnt on every blog, board, and pinterest designing my dream wedding, but I wasn't seeking vendors for the first year. At this point, all I have booked is the reception hall and the church, which we did at the 2 year mark.

Just some advice from my experience- give yourself a little time because you will change your mind. A year ago I wanted a yellow wedding in May, a year later I am planning a blue wedding in July. However, time is on your side so grab the prices as they are NOW and all of the vendors you want before they are booked. It is a balancing act for sure, but it is far better than the alternative of having to rush and settle for things you dont absolutely love.

congrats!

Congratulations!

I totally agree w/ the other ladies. It's never too early to start looking and getting ideas, but styles/themes change so 3 years is still early to start seriously planning out details. I also agree about booking major vendors early. Not only will you get everything you want, but you'll get it cheaper than if you waited. I booked my venue, photographer, and DJ around the 2 year mark, so I got 2012 pricing even though my wedding is in 2014. I've seen quotes for my venue now and the price jumped because they started the 2013 pricing.

I would agree.... I would look around get as much info the first year and then you'll know exactly what you want and get all the vendors and date that you want. ;)

THIS! Our engagement will be 3 years. When I started looking for a venue in 2011, I got some strange looks when I mentioned that my wedding isn't until 2014 lol.
