Suzanne if you are not every 28 days, chart. Mark down when you get your AF every month and count the days of your cycle. Also if you don''t know when you O, get an OPK or chart with temps etc.
Ovualtion calculator

Best time to conceive
Ovulation occurs 14 days before the next period comes. For women with a 28-day cycle, this is about day 14; in women with a 35-day cycle, this would be around day 21; and in women with a 23-day cycle, this might be day 9. If you have a varied number of days between periods, you won't be able to accurately predict ovulation without using additional means, such as an ovulation detection kit.

Sperm can live in the woman's body for a few days, waiting for the egg, but the egg only lives about 24 hours once ovulation has occurred. Because of this, sex a few days before ovulation is more likely to produce a pregnancy than is sex a day or two later.

Re: 23 day cycle?

Anything is possible, so this could be AF. BUT, if you normally have a 28-30 day cycle, this could be implantation bleeding if it is light. Are you saying that you began charting on Oct. 8 or today? If you started charting on 10/8, then you should know when you ovulated. Also, when did you see a shift in temp changes, CM, etc? Your luteal phase is the same each month. If you know when you ovulate each month and you know your luteal phase, then you will know when to expect AF. This is so confusing to explain here. If you need more help, FM me. If you use a chart online I would be happy to look at it and help you.

Good luck!

Suzanne,

Did you see a distinct shift in temps?? Ovulation occurs on the day BEFORE the shift in temperature. The shift has to be at least 2/10 of a degree higher than the five temps before it, and remain elevated for it to indicate ovulation has occurred.

In terms of luteal phases, my luteal phase can vary by a day or two each month. It''s usually somewhere between 14 and 16 days. Although this cycle it was 17. I was a little nervous there for a minute, too!! More than 18 temps above the cover line indicates pregnancy.

Then again, I have longer than average cycles.... between 35 and 45 days.

Re: 23 day cycle?

I am reading Taking Charge of Your Fertility, given to me by a very KIND member of this board.. FRAN!!.. but it might as well be written in Chinese cause i dont understand alot of it as well as some of the posts from you girls..

I did start charting on the 8th. I didnt notice ANY tempeture changes, nor did i notice the 'egg whites' thing the book speaks of.. and then today i got AF which is FAR from light so i do know that it is my period.. I was very very CRANKY last week. so i did have PMS symptoms.. I guess i will see what next month brings to see if 23 days is normal for me..

I never thought it would be this hard...2 months of trying already.. and while i know thats not alot i just am so confused..
