2nd Base for Carseat?

2nd Base for Carseat?

How many of you have two bases for your car seat? We got our seat, and I am going to put it in my car. I have a four wheel drive sedan. My husband has a FANTASTIC 4 wheel drive Range Rover that really kicks it in the snow...I can't decide if maybe we should pick up the second base. I hear it's difficult to change the base from car to car. We haven't installed it yet so I can't speak for myself on it. I am just concerned that what with this crazy weather, I might find myself needing to switch off with my husband a little more frequently.

THAT SAID - another $70 is like not on the menu right now! Let me know your opinions! I'd rather be safe than sorry!

What car seat did you get? I have the Graco SnugRide and it was $30 or $35 for an extra base. I am guessing the Peg Perego Viaggio. We considered it in the beginning but then we decided to use our Explorer as the 'baby's car' so whoever had the baby took that car so we never ended up needing it. If you think you will switch cars that much, then it is worth investing in (especially if you plan on having more kiddos). Even if it's not that hard to change, since you're having a winter baby, I am sure you or your DH will not want to be out there in the cold doing the switch. Is trading off on cars an option? Like we did - whoever has the baby takes the carseat car? If not, then I'd get it.

We have 2 also and it only cost like $35.00 for just the base. Well worth it

We have the Graco Snugride and we bought the extra base for my DH car. It was $35.00. We don't want to deal with taking it back and forth.

I also have a second base and it's been a wise choice for us. Patrick and I are very territorial about our cars (big babies, I know )so we wouldn't want to switch, and neither of us wants to fiddle with the base on a cold day.

I have a second base for the Graco Snugride. My DH has it in his car since he took the baby out without me a few times. It was also worth it so we did not always have to take my truck when we went out. His car is more economical on gas. I think it was $35, but I was able to 'layer' the discount codes due to a glitch on toysrus.com and got it for $25.

I am not a mom yet but I remember when my niece was still in her infant car seat, it wasn't that much of a pain to switch the base but once you get it in all nice an snug (with the seatbelt) in one car it might take a while to get it in the proper way the next time. It might be worth the extra money. Shop around maybe you can find it for less than $70.

well it's clear I need it! I will pick it up sometimes in the next week or so- I can't imagine having to switch it out in the cold weather - the only reason we would be territorial about who gets what car....is that mine gets to stay in the nice warm garage!!!!!!!

I also have 2 car seat bases -- actually 3, my friend lent me her's for my mother, in case she ever needs it. And like JennRenee and Patrick -- Joe and I are also very territorial about our cars (plus I can't don't know how to drive his cars, but that's another story) and it's just much easier to not have to deal with taking them in and out of different cars!!!

Edited to say that we also registered for and got 2 toddler car seats for the same reason.
