I love our first dance song but I also love the song For Once In My Life by Frank Sinatra. FH would not let me choose that song for our 1st song. So I thought we could use it as a second dance song.
My question is this, when do they play the 2nd dance song? Is it right after the 1st song or after cake cutting? If it is after cake cutting, does this mean i use this as my cake cutting song? I really wanted to use Best Friend by Queen for our cake cutting song. I am so confused!
BTW, if it is played after our 1st dance, is it okay that we still invite our bridal party on the dance floor for the middle part of our 1st song and have everyone join us for the 2nd song? FH hates being in the spotlight and cannot wait for the bridal party to join us during our first song.
Thanks so much ladies and i hope I wasn't too confusing.

Re: 2nd dance question
I've never heard of a second dance, but the cake cutting sounds about right.

Re: 2nd dance question
I went to a wedding where they had their 1st dance, then the groom dedicated a song to the bride and they danced to that song and invited the BP and parents to join in. This is your wedding, do what you want to do! I've heard of couples doing a 'spotlight dance'- not sure what it is, but it sounded like it could be a 2nd dance song.

Re: 2nd dance question
We are doing a second slow dance, right after our first dance, inviting all of the guests to join us on the dance floor.

Re: 2nd dance question
for our 1st dance we are dancing alone to At Last by Etta James, then the 2nd song played will be It Had To Be You by Harry Connick Jr. and we are going to have the MC to ask the BP and family and friends to join in.
we just really wanted our first dance to be just us and to be special since we decided to take a few dance lessons and learn some moves -- and we loved the 2nd song to so what better way to have everyone join in on it. this just worked for us -- but hope it helps

Re: 2nd dance question
We're doing a spotlight dance I think it will happen later in the wedding though, perhaps before cake cutting? Usually the parent dances are after the cake cutting I thought. But anything goes...!

Re: 2nd dance question
My line up: 1st dance followed by 2nd dance w/ BP and invite guests, followed by parent dances. The I have a song for cake cutting, then FH and I will dance to a song just the 2 of us, then me n DD, then FH and DD. It's your wedding you can do whatever youe want!

Re: 2nd dance question
Yeah, it is right after the 1st dance. We are doing one. Our 1st dance is to the song 'You' by Jim Brrickman and Jane Krawokowski. The 2nd dance is to the song 'After All' by Peter Cetera and Cher.

Re: 2nd dance question
My husband and I did this...
Our first dance was to 'I Will' by the Beatles, and then right after that we invited everyone onto the dance floor for a ballad version of 'Wouldn't it be Nice' by the Beach boys. It worked out really well!
