2nd visit to a catering hall before booking?

we are up to our second round of visitations to catering halls. if we are not ready to book, what should be discuss? the only decisions left to make or break a place is the food and price so
is it too early to try food or ask for negotiations? i am clueless!!!
thanks foryour help!

b4 booking, i would request a food trial.... nothing like knowing what everyone is going to be eating, and how it tastes to make your final choice!

wow you're booking your wedding that far in advance? That's impressive. It's never too early to ask for negotiations.

Edited to say...what places are you looking at?

I think it is important to go a second time just so you can get a clear and realistic view of the place. It is possible to 'build' a place up in your head just from the excitement of imagining you might actually get married there. Go a seond time with a clear and objective mindset.

You should try the food if that is important to you. Also now is the time for negotiating. After you book it is a bit harder to negotiate things you want. Go for it now! Where are you looking?

i think it's awesome that you are going so quickly & early.... it'll take off a lot of stress in the end of it all!

You should definetly taste the food before you give a place any money! Its not that early trust me. When we went to book our place in November for our 2004 wedding they were booking for 2005 already ( 3 places had bookings for 2005 actually)

wow! now i really feel the pressure to book. we are looking into the carlyle on the green and woodbury country club. any comments on both would be great. i've heard all great things about the carlyle- for the price i should- but nothing about the woodbury country club.
so i guess it is okay to ask for a tasting? do i need to call ahead for that or can i ask right on the spot?

call and ask for a tasting to be scheduled & word to the wise.... try to have it done while a party is going on so that you can taste how the food will be prepared for a massive group!

it is good you are looking early, time is a good thing with that big decision. COTG doesn't do tastings. You can talk about what they will offer you though with food and price. LOL
