My little pumpkin has not gained his birth weight back. His pediatrician thinks its because I was giving him both the breast and bottle. He told me to only give the breast every 2-3 hrs or on demand. He said that the breast is best for him. So far since I removed the bottle he has been latching on really well and eating every 2-3 hrs. Prayfully by next monday Aidan will gain his wait back. Or else the Dr. will put him formula. Please keep Aidan Joseph in your prayers.

Re: 2wk old not gaining wt!
Maybe you could try feeding every hour? I know, it's tiring, I've been there before in growth spurts, but maybe it will help. Maybe you could look in to a LC to help with the concern?
How's your supply? Have you had any problems? Sounds like the latch is going well.
Edited: I thought of some more things to ask.
Are you using a pacifier a lot? Not that pacifiers shouldn't be used, but sometimes it will pacify a baby enough not to eat as much as he wants. Are you eating and drinking properly? Is the baby wetting about 6-8 diapers and pooping 1-2 times in 24 hours?

Call a professional LC..you do NOT have to figure this out alone. Most doctors, I have found, are not lacation consultants. You may need to pump to increase your supply. Also, you maybe able to provide breastmilk in a bottle INSTEAD of going to formula.
I used Dawn Frank, South Shore Lacation Consultants in Babylon. She is GREAT!! It is not free, some insurance pays, mine didn't but it is still MUCH cheaper than going to formula. She may be able to help you figure this out and not need formula.
You are doing great!! Don't give up breastfeeding just yet
