3 florists appts tomorrow!

I have 3 appts with florists tomorrow!!!!!!

Anyone have any advice for me? What should I be asking them besides how much they will cost?

Where are you going?
Bring pics of samples you like to get ideas.

1. How long have they been making wedding arrangements?

2. What style do they specialize in -- modern, traditional, romantic, etc.?

3. Can I see a portfolio of their work?

4. Are they familiar with my ceremony and reception location?

5. How do they charge for their services -- a flat fee or per-item fee?

6. What is the cost of each item: bridal bouquet, bridesmaid bouquets, boutonnieres, centerpieces, etc.?

7. Can the florist also provide an aisle runner, candles, candlesticks/holders, trellises, potted plants, etc.?

8. Can they work within my budget?

9. How far in advance will they make my bouquet and centerpieces?

10. Will the florist make a sample bouquet and centerpiece for me to see?

not much to ask...just have an idea of what you want. if they price you out high ask how to lower the costs...seems a lot of places agreed to drop $20 per centerpiece if i told them it didnt need to be that full....

make sure to ask when you can see a sample...some let you see before you book and some after you book.

ask if they charge more for certain flowers..

I hate when florists charge you more because you pick roses or some other high demand flower..

def make sure they will make you a sample, FREE of charge BEFORE you book!

i think flowers are super important and you should make sure your florist fully understands what you want before you book

what you think is pretty is not the same to everyone else, what you think is 'full' or 'large' is also not the same

we saw 2 samples before we booked and there were HUGE differences in the size and quality and the smaller one was MORE expensive!

also find out if they charge different prices for different flowers

and find out WHO will be there the day of your wedding

you want to make sure the person you are working with, talking to, sharing ideas will be the one ON your day to actually execute it! not some random person carrying around a pic your sample trying to replicated it 10 times

HTH!

bring pictures if you have an idea of what you would like and if you have color swatches of your BM dresses, bring them as well.
Good luck!

you should also ask if they provide the FG basket, or if you need to buy your own.

Pedestals provided the basket for me (they even spray painted it in ivory to match my dress)

good luck tomorrow!

ETA: and if they're a smaller company, you should ask what happens if the main florist is sick or whatnot (make sure there's a backup person who will deliver the flowers)

you could also ask if paying in cash would lower the price

Re: 3 florists appts tomorrow!

aside from a sample to be made for your viewing in a few weeks, I'd ask them to pull some flowers when you're there so you can see if they get your vision and also the quality of their flowers. Remember NO carnations and you don't want any hydrangeas in your bouquet since once out of water they are the fastest dying flower (in CP they are fine)

Just curious- why no carnations? I'm not a traditional rose fan and I really wanted peonies but their season ends just before my wedding weekend so my florist recommended using garden roses and carnations since they both give that fluffy/ soft flower feel. So I'm just curious why you were told not to use carnations?
