3 Hour Glucose Test Here I Come -- UGH!

3 Hour Glucose Test Here I Come -- UGH!

I went to the dr last night and found out that I am 29 weeks and 1 day (2 days now), when I thought I was a week behind. So I have 11 weeks to go -- better put the pedal to the medal and get my list of things to do done -- actually more like get Joe to start cracking on it!!!!

Also found out that my fasting glucose blood test from last week came back slightly elevated again, so I have to go for the dreaded 3 hour test now!!! When I called the Lab to make an appt, they told me I better come with DH since I almost passed out at the 1 hour! Hate having to take a day off just for that, but so be it. I just hope that it comes back negative and I don't end up having gestational diabetes. So, can you all cross your fingers and toes that it all goes well. I'm going next Thursday and will let you all know how I made out then.

The baby's heart was beating very strong and everything else is going so far so good! I have to go for another Level II sonogram in 3 weeks to make sure my dancing worked and the placenta moved on up to where it should be

I also have to call about Lamaze, which I apparently was supposed to do by my 5/6 month! Oh well, better late then never, right?

Other then that, I'm glowing and growing!!!

Good luck! I took the three hour and passed. It is very common to fail the first and pass the second. Bring a good book or a gameboy with you.

Mine came back elevated too - so I begged them to do the 1 hour test again - they let me and it too was elevated (I hate blood tests) more than the average person - when I got there for the 3 hour test and they told me I had to get 3 blood tests ( I started crying like I was 5 ) However, believe it or not it helped me when I had the baby b/c I got sick and had to get blood taken a lot (it prepared me - I am now not as afraid of blood being taken -
I passed the 3 hour - I'm sure you will too.
Try not to eat too many carbs the day before - that's what they told me -
Good Luck.

Awww, sorry Debbie!!! What a PITA!! Don't worry, though - I'm sure you'll pass w/ flying colors!!

Don't worry about Lamaze, either!! We took it 30-34 weeks and there were PLENTY of women who were due much sooner than me there. Not to mention, I think I've forgotten most of it by now!! 'Hee Hee Whoooooooo'....

Blech! That stuff is yucky - orange syrup. I had the jimmy legs after it - or whatever you call it when you get all hyper from too much sugar in your blood and your limbs can't stay still.

I'm sure you did fine.

Jenn, FM'd you back. I don't go for it until this Thursday, so I won't be in work -- therefore I won't be able to let you all know whether I fell on my face during it until Monday! When I made the appt, they told me to bring my husband !!!! Joe will be there to catch me when I fall -- he better have a forklift w/him the way I'm looking these days!

Thanks for all your good wishes!! A big fat to all of you!!!!!

duh! I am developing this habit of half reading stuff. I see...you took the reg glucose test and need to take the 3 hr. I dont have any experience with it but my SIL failed hers with her first baby and she had to restrict herself. The typical 'sugar foods' is not the problem as much as the carbs. She also failed the reg one with her second child and passed the 3 hr but watched her intake anyway to be safe. The tests are tough because if you have a bagel before you go, it spikes it up and may not be a true indicator of your glucose levels.

Good luck. I know you'll let us know how it goes.

Elizabeth, I have to go FASTING!! Can you imagine?? I can't have anything 10-12 hours before and then I have to sit there for 3 hours and not eat or drink anything -- maybe a sip of water!! I can see me on the floor now! And if they don't have the friggin a/c on this time, I'll really be on the floor!

And the best part is they want Joe with me in case I do get sick, but not for nothing, he is the worst person to have when you're sick -- I love him to death, but he'll be sick alongside me!!!

I'm telling you, when I go into labor it's going to be a scene from I Love Lucy or America's Funniest Videos!!!!

My hubby doesn't have a strong stomach and I'm trying to prepare him for life with an infant!!!! Oh the stories I'll be telling come September!!!
